Help, car won't start!
 

help, my rx7 doesn't start

it has something to do with the electrical, my battery is fully charged. i went to my car and i accidentaly set off the alarm, i got in and nothing will turn on. the alarm will not work either. if i plug the battery into the charger, a couple lights will come on and the gauges will go nuts, also i will hear a lot of relays will start clicking, but th car still won't start.

any help, any fuses i should check? get a new battery? any ideas will help.

Make sure your battery cables are still attached properly.

Next make sure you didn't knock any components loose on your alarm system/immobilizer.

Next make sure that the ignition switch is still plugged in tightly. I had this problem a couple of days ago, the metal prongs on the switch got loose and were rubbing the contacts when I moved the keys in the ignition and all the relays were clicking and the lights were going on and off, the engine was also dying randomly, the clicking relays tipped me off.

After that I guess just make sure all the relays are plugged in properly and that you have no burned out fuses.

I'll try checking it out.

where is the alarm system immobilizer located on the FD?

ok so I got the car to start, it turns out it was just the battery. which is odd since it is fully charged. My guess is the battery is dead? I need a new one?

I jumped the car and the car started just fine, and I drive around, I stop the car, and the car is completly dead. I am currently running a buddy club dry cell battery, do you think I should get a new one? what battery do you guys recomend. My battery is relocated to the box behind my seat so it needs to be small.

Also when my car does start, my defroster and rear window wiper are going off and I can't turn them off. Also the front window wipers are very slow. Is this an effect of a drained battery? or some other wiring problem?

It could easily be a battery. I would suggest you get your battery tested, then replace it. After that see if your other electronics are working properly. I'm making a complete guess, but is it possible that there may not be enough current to properly control some of the relays if your batter is bad?

The battery voltage is @ 11.2 is that too low? it seems like it woul be enough to at least crank the engine.

that's pretty low. the voltage should be at least 11.9, i would charge it up overnight then let it sit for a while and check where the voltage lands after that.

you should also start the engine then stop it immediately to see what kind of voltage drop happens. if your battery is toast your voltage will probably drop and stay down. it can happen if your battery is sulfated (have you refilled the water recently with distilled water? if not that's probably what's happened). sulfated batteries are ticking time bombs, may as well replace it if that is the case.
