Help car running strange suspected fuel problem
 

Not too long ago I had a fuel leak and went to investigate and after a lot of searching found a leak on the pulsation damper. I didn't have a replacement so I covered the hole with a lump of Quik-steel(its like JB Weld) and it worked for a while. I got the new pulsation damper and replaced it today. But after putting it all back together the car ran alright or so I thought. When I went to drive it it sputtered if the gas was pressed a little harder and only went full spool after it could manage to go above 4k rpm. If at an idle and gas is pressed to the floor and let off immediately it will sputter before going up in rpm. If you ease it down there is no problem. When you are driving it is the same way. I need any suggestions as soon as possible. thanks! Oh also it ran fine before I worked on it and the only thing that I see that could be wrong is a sensor in the center of the secondary rail looks slightly damaged and also I tried to removed one of the secondary injectors and decided not to mess with it and put it back.(I did not fully pull it out at all.)

I would suggest checking all the vacuum lines and electrical connectors. There are a ton of them under the UIM and it's easy to attach one wrong or not at all.

Did that I don't see anything out of place. Keep in mind I have gone non-sequential so no more solenoids and stuff. I totally forgot to mention that.

You know its wierd I took the UIM back off and investigated all electrical connecters and all after I put it back together it still ran like doodoo. Then after a stop at Wal-mart it started to act normal and is fine now!?:Wconfused Can anyone explain this?

Maybe some debris in the primary fuel rail? pluging up the primaries (or one of them) some how? Would explain how it ran better when in upper RPM's-when the secondays kicked in.....
Just thinking out loud though.....anyone else?

forgot to add: the sensor is the fuel temp. are you using the stock ECU?

First check for ECU codes.

Second, did you possibly damage that injector? How old and brittle is the wiring harness on this car? How long was the car 'down' for repairs?

check to see if the spacer was put back under the primary rail bolts. Had the same issue with mine and ended up being the spacer wasnt there. Under boost it would lift and leak gas/boost etc. Put the spacer back and it was all good.

Well the thing is that it now runs fine. In fact it drives better than ever now that I changed to the Supra TT fuel pump. Someone mentioned to me it might have been debris or gunk causing my throttle body to act strangely and confuse my TPS. Can this happen?

no that wouldnt of happened gunk is not going to confuse your tps , Could have been your fuel pump going out, the fuel pump resistor gives a lower voltage down low in rpm/load so the pump just might have not been working correctly, also i would double check to see if the primary injectors are connected fully, might be partiall connected, around 4k the secondarys come on so that might be why it starts to run "normal" but check the primary connections

No I made sure all connectors were clean and fully connected and also I just replaced the fuel pump and the PFC shows it working fine.
