Help With BOV
 

i currently have the stock twins. Now i know many of u say the stock BOV is ok but i want to get a HKS SS one. Now the reason why is one of my stock bov's where damaged and so i rather replace it with one of those. So with this said i did use the search button for a write up of how to install a bov to the stock twins but had no luck. If someone scould tell me where to put what and or link me to a write up it would help alot. And so i fix this my 7 will be down cause i dont wish to damage anything. :wallbash:

the stock bov is easy to find, it's right underneath the rubber intake pipes that run from the box to the back of the engine

There are two that look alike, you want the one that runs into the stock y pipe.

look at the attached pic, all the way to the left on the y pipe, the small pipe sticking out from that "rusted looking area"

if you want to run your BOV on your greddy elbow or yor piping, do you just cap that or what? ive got mine hooked up to that same location, the greddy type RS with some kind of adapter that just pops on the hose and is held down by a clamp, but can easily be pulled out. (sorry for thread jacking)...2nd note, what the hell happened to that engine?

I was planning on useing the Greddy RS on my non sequentials as well. I planned mounting to the elbow and deleting the stock ones... do you just T the stock two vacuum lines together and run it to the RS. then block off the origional pipe fittings? or am i missing something?

I am about to get a smic and want to get the greddy elbow with a blow off valve flange, but have no idea to delete the stock blow off valve.

Wow, did you get that motor from a flood damaged car?

If you use a welded on BOV to the elbow or IC piping you can cap the stock BOV hole with one of those little rubber "HELP" caps that advance auto parts sells. I think the largest one that comes in the box is the one that fits pretty snugly too but I used a metal clamp as well. These brand isnt the best, its pretty cheap, I had one break on me after about a year of driving and caused me to go crazy trying to figure out where the boost leak was coming from. So I keep an extra box in the car.

thanks for all the info. so i block off the stock ones (ill most likey have them welded smooth) but as for as the little hoses tha t connect to the bovs(thats is what broke off) what do i do with those. use a "T" clamp and run it to the new HKS SS

I use the stock secondary BOV and I found an adapter to allow me to plug my HKS directly into the stock BOV hose. Then it is secured with a homemade bracket... works pretty good and with no welding. I will have it welded into IC piping after I go single turbo.

just to clarify two things. first, that nub i circled is what we are all talking about? and secondly, is it the same on the efini Y pipe?

Just get the HKS SSQ and the adapter for the FD. All you do is remove the stock valve from the hose, and the adapter plugs right up to where the stock one was. Then run a vacuum line to the nipple on the SSQ

i now where to run the vacum on to the new one but what about the second one cause there are two.

which vacuum line? Just run a line to the new BOV and cap or plug any other vacuum line that you're not using.

You can run a BOV to any source that has vaccum. just block of the two stock ones and plug a new vac line from anywhere to your new BOV. you could use the nub on the y pipe or any other source of vac.
