Help! Autometer Temp Gauge won't work

I installed the Autometer temp gauge in the turbo coolant line behind the UIM, and it is not working. I'm not sure why, so I thought I'd see if anyone has any ideas.

The sending unit is wired properly, and the gauge and the brass T are grounded to the firewall, but the needle on the gauge stays pegged to the left, and never moves. I think the gauge might be defective, what do you think?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

Sounds like you don't have any power to the gauge. Check to see that you have connected to a proper power source. Also, make sure the gauge is connected to a good ground. It's possible the gauge is bad, but not likely if it is new.

I thought the same thing with my autometer temp gauge that I installed last weekend. I put in in the throttle body coolant line. Turns out the gauge was fine and that there was just no coolant going through that line because of an air pocket.

Maybe you have something similar.

Even an air pocket will heat up with the engine.

Right. My temp gauge would rise when I ran the car for awhile then shut it off.

I doubt it's the problem but it was just a thoguht.

Ground it to the battery to see.

Thanks for the tips, I'll try them later today!
