HELP!!! ARC intake box for FD

wassup people.
i bought ARC intake box from ebay and i have some questions to people who had this before or have it in ur FD right now.
for thos people never seen ARC intake (its just stainless stock size air box w/ filters on top and bottom).

here is the problem... on ARC intake box there is not enuff wholes to plug in all the stock tubing (all da tubes that used to pluged in stock air box)
and in the instruction sheet they have this picture figure of some electrical thing get disconected..
too bad they're in Japanese, i cant read them, but my friend or my co-worker will help with reading that.

so people who own ARC intake please help me out!
thanks!!!!!

there is a place for the extra hose...the one that looks like an L, just drill a hole through it and plug the extra hose in there..
as for the airpump, get a mini breather filter...that should cover it all...
forgot to mention, you dont need to plug the BOV hose at all...unless you dont want to hear the pssssh pshhhhhssss....

this was my setup

Anyone got a line on where to get replacement filters?

neit_jnf 08-03-04 07:43 PM

What do you think of the ARC intercooler? I bought one of the "Race" version SMIC that needs to be installed...

##Sorry to revive this old ass thread, but it covers what I'm looking for and I wasn't able to find anything else that talks about these issues##

I know I'm about 8 years late to the party but I just received a brandnew ARC intake box RHDJapan. As "David Kim" was trying to describe the intake does not have connections for everything. On the driver's side of the stock airbox there is a single connection the instructions say is not used (there's nothing to connect to on the ARC mind you)...given when I traced that tubing from my stock airbox I found it wasn't connected to anything anyway. The main thing that concerns me is the instructions say to disconnect the wiring harness that goes to the airpump as it is no longer needed, is that right? As far as what "Merciless" was saying, you seriously need to drill something and then use yet another filter?

Doing digging outside of this forum it appears that single tube coming off of the driver's side of the stock airbox is for the diverter valve and doesn't need to be connected. Is this the mysterious extra hose mentioned above?

Then the airpump connector can be disconnected which will cause it to (I'm guessing) freewheel since the belt is still connected. What are the long term affects on the cats with it disabled completely? Another source mentioned turning off some settings in the PFC with the airpump disabled like this, well I don't have a Dataloggit so will that cause issues? The PFC doesn't even use the airpump I thought since it's not present in the JDM wiring harness.

If you want to save yourself the hassle, you can leave the air pump wiring connected then just place a plastic or rubber cap over the unused airpump harldine that used to connect to the stock air box. Drill 3-4 small holes in that cap before you install it and you just should be good to go. Search for "moo deleter" or "moo silencer", should give you an idea of what I mean.

That's pretty much the cheapest and easiet solution.
