Help!

ok im thinking about buying a 94 rx7, the only thing holding me back is that it has an automatic transmission. Is it possible to swap it out for the 5 speed manual, and if so does anyone know approximatly how much it would cost to do it?

thanks!

you have to figure the 5speed is probably going to run you around a grand. Throw in another grand for install. And another grand for clutch, flywheel, bearings and a few other misc. things here and there. Add it all together and there you go about 3 grand? give or take a few hundread(of course I dont know where you are but its just a ball park figure).
Hope this helps,

It's very possible. More then a few people here have had it done or done it themselves.

But why bother?

Buy what you want to start with....

I've not done an auto->manual conversion on an FD, but on a couple of other cars it was a REAL pain, and it is almost impossible to get everything looking/sounding/feeling like it was built that way...

Cheers,
Dave

I saw a very good swap for about $2,000. That also include a new ACT clutch and new ring and pinion for the differential. Remember, the automatics have a 1:3.9 ratio ring and pininon, whereas the manuals have a 1:4.1

I'd just go for a manual. I got mine for $10k with a new engine/turbos, but had to drive 12 hours to get it. The drive was well worth it, I'd do it all over again. While I was looking, before I had the money, I saw one with a Greddy turbo upgrade, and all the fun engine stuff for only $10k! If you keep looking, you will be able to find a great deal.
