Does your Check Engine Light come on? If so, pull the codes and find the source.

Do all of your temps and pressures read as normal?

Here's where I would start:

1. Check with Mazda. There was a TSB for the Auto's that had stalling problems. The TSB replaced the ECU to fix the problem.

2. Check your alternator

3. Get a compression test. Low compression on an automatic causes stalling problems.

Take Mahjik’s advice and get a compression test. I have an automatic and had low compression on the rear rotor on my old motor and had the same problems as you with it stalling. I also had warm start problems; anytime the engine was warm from driving it awhile it would not restart after turning it off. I would have to wait until the engine was completely cooled down before it would start.

Mazda told me that on automatics it is typically the rear rotor that fails first. They said it has something to do with the extra weight of the automatic transmission compared to the manual transmission and the weight that it puts on the rear rotor.

A TSB is a Technical Service Bulletin. It's basically a problem/situation that they have noticed on a lot of cars, but it's not on every car to warrant a recall.

hi fd3s 7007 ... r u with the JSOC club ? i am at PJ

fd3s7007 Nov 30, 2005 01:03 PM

mahjik, unfortunately all the fd's here in malaysia are grey imports and not covered in terns if TSB's. the regular sales representatives cannot be bothered to be of any assistance. i tried to contact cycle and carriage (local mazda dealer) in 2000 and they pretty much said that its not their responsibility.

nope, i'm with the proper Rotary Engine Club Malaysia. JOSC is pretty much for gay ass bitches. ;)

That really doens't make any sense, at least not to me. It's a Mazda car. Regardless of where it came from, it's still a Mazda car. Now, TSB's are not necessarily covered "FREE" like warranties so if they were looking to charge your for the work/parts, they are in the right for that.
