Hello Everyone

I don't want to be a problem with anyone, but I am VERY interested in becoming an avid member of this forum BECAUSE of my ownership of an awesome 93 RX7 R-1pkg car. My question to you guys is "could you please tell me everything that you know of as a (to look for) or (problem with) when looking at purchasing a car such as the above mentioned. I do know that it looks really nice on the outside, and that the interior is in perfect condition. I also know that the current owner has replaced 2 motors after putting a retarded amount of Nitrous Oxide on it. He has "de-sequentialized" the turbos to run at the same time and stated that they were sent in to a very reputable turbo place to have them worked over and produce more power. He stated that they don't really kick your ass until it gets to 4g or so...but that it is still mild mannered for the street. He blew the last motor and just left the car and the brand new motor sitting there in his garage for nearly 8 months or so. He decided, because of my interest, to just go ahead and put the new engine in it so that i may drive it. Some things here may sound skeptical on his behalf, but note that he has tons of money and has a 13.1 second club cab ford F350 long bed dually Turbo Diesel that he spends his time on instead of this car. He said that the motor AND the transmission are both new. I would more than greatly appreciate ANY and ALL information you guys can spare as experienced owners and enthusiasts of this vehicle year, make and model.

and P.S. I'd be very skeptical about what that seller is telling you. The fact that he's already blown one engine gives you some idea that this guy is no expert. Not to mention that some of the other things he told you sound pretty flaked out, no matter what he claims his dually diesel does.

One thing that the guy did right for you is switching is turbos to non-sequential. Although the sequential turbos are fun they are impossible to troubleshoot with the headaches of vacuum lines, solenoids, and actuators. Not sure what your mods are now but a few things to think of is:
1) adding a dp if not already there (helps with heat and stress on turbos)
2) ditching the AST for a SS unit of get the elimination kit from M2
3) Cooling is a big factor - get a better radiator (fluidyne or koyo)
4) Change the oil every 1500 miles
5) replace all your vacuum lines (the ones you have left) with silicone
6) 180 degree thermostat

the list can go on for making your RX7 more reliable and last longer but these cars can be blindingly fast with little mods - remember your fuel system (fuel filter, fuel pump, and upgraded ecu - if your going to mod pretty heavy)

Have fun with your new car

Thank you so much guys...

I think that no matter what horror stories that people could tell me...my mind is made up that i want this thing. I just want it to be able to run around on the street. I had a Civic with a B20/GSR/ turbo motor in it, about a week ago, this was before it got STOLEN for the second time since Sept. 6th 01. which was the DAY i moved to OKC. I'm sure that i'm well capable of doing most of the needed things and procedures myself. But, as well, I hope that I can come here and get help from people 3000x more experienced with this thing that I'll ever be with it. These things written and mentioned by you guys is already on paper and will be read over even before i sit in the seat for the first time. again, thanks so much F that damned FWD civic/thieve's trophy. All it did was spin anyway. :D

Thanks allot guys...

This beats the old Honda forums with their gods and asswhipes. I've run into one person so far, here, that has a fully matured pinecone stuck up some dark crevice unmentionable, but he may mean well. Sarcasm does not seem to help me too well. I've got a great sense of humor, but don't take destructive and aggrivated criticism very well. Again, you guys are great, and I'm more than glad to be a part of this group. I don't know how many of the large car shows any of you go to, knowing that traditionalists don't enjoy the shows that promote the degradation of a beautiful stock car, but the business that I am in runs completely parallel to this "performance and looks modification" industry. This car, like my other, will see more of these shows than most ANY of the cars that frequent the show and competition car circuits. I'm not interested in making the car look different than it does factory, it is so damned sleek from the factory that a sleeper is certainly in my best interest. I'm in the autosound industry, sure you guessed that. We are basically like all of your super custom shops that build the one-off specialty things for their customers exacting needs. We custom hand build speakers and subwoofers for each specific installation need as well as amplifier requirements. Just sharing some info about myself. I'd be interested to find out what each of you guys do for a living or just for entertainment/hobbies.
