Headlight lens replacement
 

I know that just about everyone hates the stock headlights, so why aren't there more threads about changing out the headlight lenses? I want to keep the pop-ups, and I don't want to spend a grand on the knightsports kit with damn foglights as headlights. There's a bunch of cheapo ones on Ebay, but naturally I don't trust them. Unless anyone's tried these and likes them, I'm still looking. Isn't there just a clear cover to get somewhere?

Ah, so that's why. Nobody has any idea where to buy good ones!

Theres no replacement lenses for FDs. You either use the stock ones or get some expensive aftermarket kit. The ebay ones that claim to be for the FD will not work. They will work for an FC but not for an FD.

Get the E-code/Euro headlights for a Left-hand drive FD.

I installed them and the pattern and optics are so much better than the crappy DOT ones.

M104-AMG , do you have the part numbers for those E-code headlights? Will this be available at Mazda dealers in the U.S. ?

Sorry, I have ESpec FD and obviously these lights. They still suck big time and its really hard driving at night (and horrible if its raining at night) :eek:

as low as the car is. . . i doubt there is much lighting thatll help during the rain.

Here in the USA, the E-SPEC lights are way better than the USA DOT lights.

Simple things that make a huge difference...and cost next to nothing
- Good grounding: I noticed substantial difference in lighting when I added some grounding and cleaned the contacts on the back of the dash
- Run a relay directly from battery to lights
- Use the silvania sivestars...all other bulbs other than HID are just a waste of money

You will be surprised by the difference

Also, AIM the lights well! The headlights on my car bigtime sucked when I bought the car - they were aimed VERY low, basically pointing straight down at the road and crosseyed. Brought them up properly and straightened them out, had a HUGE difference in light quality. I'm even running the STOCK bulbs in the car - as in the ones they put in the car in Hiroshima :).

I'm interested in getting the Euro housings at some point, though :). I'd LOVE to get HID as well.
