Having major problems
Removed all emissions and the double throttle and now the car is extremely hard to start. It has only started once in the numerous amounts of time I have tried to start it and it ran like it was blown. Checked all vaccum lines multiple times and checked the map sensor line. When trying to start it cranks and sounds like it wants to start but just wont start up. Im am running out of patience and dont have much time. I first removed all the emissions and it ran fine except for a high idle. I then decided to remove the double throttle butterfly's and now it runs like shit.
Streetport PFS SMIC PFS DP,MP,CB Pettit Intake Power FC/Commander Any ideas?? |
u adjust the idle speed control?
hook back up the 2nd throttle and see if runs fine again. |
I removed or blocked off:
Air Pump and all associated components Idle speed control ACV Double Throttle AWS All solenoids that arent in use are disconnected and all vaccum hoses are removed also. |
could there be a chance you flooded it? i removed basically the same things you did except the double throttle (just capped the vac like that went to it and removed the solenoid). I am still running the stock ECU and it's been pretty good, even the idle isn't bouncy. Try just unflooding it and start from there.. umm did you cap off the necessary ends?
|
ok if u pulled the idle speed controll you need to set the minimum air now. it is prob flooded now. why disconnect the iac???
|
I disconnected the ISC because it cleans up the engine bay and the UIM a bit, and I have a PFC and the ISC sometimes cant keep up with the new range of idle conditions. Thanks for the replies. I havent tried unflooding the engine yet and that may help.
|
i thought once you have the PFC you don't need the ISC anymore... isn't it one of the wires that you end up cutting?
|
yes thats true. but you still must set the idle with the pFC.
|
Ok. Well from doing more searching it seems I need to adjust my idle air and my TPS. The car may also be flooded. Anyone else care to suggest anything??

I think I may have figured out my problem. The last time I started the car I didnt have the TPS attached. Without the TPS my idle was rock solid. When I put it on this time I put on the TPS but didnt adjust it. My idle was really crappy and didnt hold any vaccum at all. Kind of a stupid thing to not notice.
|
Alright well when I put the TPS on it was about half way to full throttle and now the engine is flooded pretty bad. I can smell fuel at the exhaust tip pretty strongly and the car wont turn over. Gonna see if I can unflood it and keep you guys posted. Thanks for the replies.
