Have about $2k I'd like to spend on the RX7

The car is already converted to non sequential twins and has all the bolt-ons and most of the reliability mods. Koyo radiator, aluminum ast tank, fan switch, turbo timer, silicon hoses.

With that in mind, and knowing that I'm not really intersted in that many more performance parts, what would that $2k be well spent on? I've seen a lot of stuff like the differential bar and wondered if stuff like this was worth the money or a waste. Also, my rx7 is my daily driver.

Besides reliability mods, i.e. exhaust, ecu, intake, fuel upgrades, radiator, etc..., then nothing. You could some gauges, which you should have already.

You could get a front mount intercooler. Or, you could save your money for single turbo kit. Better yet, save your money so when you blow your motor, you'll have money for a new one. :)

Pfc?????

derty 08-06-04 12:21 AM

Save for single!

Gamezilla 08-06-04 12:23 AM

Already have power fc. have 850 cc primaries. greddy intake. mp. hks downpipe. racing beat exaust.

If you don't have one already, get yourself a nice sound system.

I guess thats all I have left to do. I worked my ass off all summer and ended up with a little bit of excess. Thats 2k that I didnt plan on having. I already have money set aside incase something crazy goes wrong. I'm starting to just look for random small things to do now.

Put it in something safe, investment wise. CD rates suck, but it's better then something that will lose half it's value the moment you bolt it on. I'm trying to buy property and build townhomes in a booming section of town, and things would have been much easier if I hadn't gone ballistic on the FD (and other things the last 5 years). Plan for the future - trust me on this.

I highly recommend buying yourself a shiny new brain, as the current one dosent seem to be in working order. If you were smart you'd be running a 4-rotor.

save up for an engine

u know u want to slam on the gas pedal

RX7INSAC 08-06-04 02:41 AM

Get a water temp and boost guage. Also a air/fuel system like the Innovate. It will save your motor and lots of $$$ down the road. Also if you haven't already I would upgrade your ecu (chiped or pfc) and get a upgrade fuel pump and boost controller. You could gain alot of power by safely uping your boost.

skunks 08-06-04 07:04 AM

save it all for a new engine

$2k for no performance increase?

Gamezilla 08-06-04 10:23 AM

Already have pfc and a boost gauge. I'm looking to get a new oil pressure gauge and egt gauge. I know the thread title sounds like something the typical ricer would make. Just trying to get some ideas on where to go with the car now.

KaiFD3S 08-06-04 10:27 AM

Get a good sound system......

wrankin 08-06-04 11:11 AM

Hmmm, $2k to spend? How about tightening up that loose nut behind the wheel?

Talk to some local clubs about High Performance Driving School (track weekends). Get out and track the car. Let it stretch out its legs. See http://www.mazdadrivers.com/ for an example.

Save the rest for maintanence and comsumable items (tires, pads, fluids, filters, etc...).

Good luck,

-bill

I don't see you mentioning a downpipe in your mods. ;)

Greddy intake, resonated MP, HKS downpipe, Racing Beat exhaust.

HEns 08-06-04 11:29 AM

how about some nice wheels?

I've thought about it. The rims I want are gonna run me about $2k and then I'll have to pay for tires on top of that. Only problem is the car has brand new tires as of about 800 miles ago. I'm planning on waiting until those go bare and getting rims and tires all at once.

I'm thinking about getting the Greddy 2 piece intercooler piping kit and Greddy intake elbow with the BOV flange so I can mount an aftermarket BOV. What would I do about the stock BOV though?

Section8 08-06-04 12:14 PM

Koni Yellows? Springs? Anti-sway bars? JimLab Unobtainium bushings? Although the car might be a bit firm for daily driving with those.

wiblergt 08-06-04 12:35 PM

yes... for a daily driver... i would stay away from the tranny brace and certain coilovers.

the tranny brace alone will rattle you to death.

sounds like you have a nice car now...

DON"T SPEND IT JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE IT LYING AROUND
