has anyone tried motul tranny and diff oil?

im trying to decide which tranny and diff oil to buy. right now im either going to get motul or neo. i've had good experience with motul in the past in a 240sx, and i use the their brake fluid in my fd and miata. however, most people on here recommend neo 75w-90 hd. has anyone had any experiences with motul gear 300 75w-90 and motul 90 pa in these cars?

thanks

I have not used it. FWIW, It would appear to be similar to any other 75w-90 GL5, except that it's more expensive.

Personally, I use synthetic GL-4 (Amsoil or Redline MT-90) since GL5 oils are harder on the synchros.

Go with Neo, it seems to be your best bet. I used to run Redline and my shifting was very notchy and impossible in winter until it warmed up. Neo solved all of those problems for me. Buy a gallon from Bakerpercision and you will be all set.

We have only used their brake fluid- which we swear by- Keep us posted

i used amsoil motor oil in my previous cars and in my dads bmw, much smoother revs IMO compared to mobil 1, so i bought some amsoil 75w90 and am going to change out my tran/diff this weekend i'll let you know how it feels

Motul gear 300V is a great oil 4 tranny!!! I īve intalled it yesterday and it is day and night!

Bumping this from the dead.

I'd like to know if anyone else has used Motul Gear 300 in their FD tranny and what they thought of it.

How does it compare to Neo?

Mrmatt3465 10-01-12 10:42 AM

I have not used motul but I have used the neo synthetic. I really liked neo over redline as the cold pour point on neo was better. That helps with keeping your shifts smooth first thing in the morning. Neo is a yellow metal safe gl4/gl5. I have 3 qts of amsoil mtf that I'm going to try next change. The only thing about my neo, is that it sheared down after a trip to tail of the dragon to where it lost its cold shift butteriness. After a small warm up the notchyness goes away. The s2k guys rave about amsoil and have UOAs to prove their results. I'll let you know how it goes.

Great, thanks! I'd like to change my tranny/diff fluid right away so I'd like to know what I should use. Neo, Amsoil, or Motul. I have access to amsoil and Motul locally. I'd have to order Neo. Willing to get whatever's best.

iv had amsoil in the tranny for about 2 months now. and i have no complaints, i went from redline

I just installed a KAAZ 1.5 way LSD at 100% lock with brand new bearings and a 4.44 r&p, and the noise with the KAAZ fluid is INSANE. I have Amsoil Severe Gear GL-5 and Slip-Lock ready to go in after break-in, I'll post my results afterwards.

trans
AMSOIL - Synthetic Manual Transmission and Transaxle Gear Lube 75W-90 (MTG)

diff
AMSOIL - Severe GearŪ Synthetic Extreme Pressure (EP) Gear Lube 75W-110 (SVT)

I ran redline and killed a transmission on it (not saying it was completely the fluid's part), tried Mobil1, Neo, and now have run Amsoil over the past 2 years (annual changes because the car gets tracked). Neo was good, but I definitely like Amsoil better. Seems to hold up to the track abuse better and less shavings/particles on the drain plug magnets

I will continue to use the Amsoil, but would be interested to know if anyone had experience with the Motul line. I use thier RBF600 brake fluid and ran their oils in my motorcycles in the past.

Somewhat related, I ran MT90 Redline in my Speed3 trans and had a noticable improvement in shift quality when cold.

Im normally a huge Amsoil fan, but was impressed that there was actually a difference from changing the fluid out with the Redline.

+1 !!!! Noticed redline was by far the best in my FD. I had a field day last year trying out royal purple, amsoil, reg. gear lube. Redline was the best. Noticeable diff.
