hard time starting my FD...

It used to be intermittent (after not driving for a week or more over the winter), but after I change the water thermosensor, almost every start requires that I "hold the pedal to the metal" for a couple of seconds before the engine catches... Anybody have any idea as to what's going on with my FD?

Thanks!

well man i had the same symptoms and what my deal was is the water seals were slowly going bad.. what happens is when it sits the seals shrink up, and allow coolant into the combustion chamber.. when you crank it it the spark burns the coolant off.. when you put your foot on the floor it opens up more air to the chamber thus creating more heat etc. maybe your a different case but sounds pretty much to me that you should start saving for a rebuild.. good luck

Not the answer I wanted to here, but with an FD, what is... Any idea of how much longer the engine will run before it no longer runs? Should I start saving for a rebuild or replacement?

Thanks!

it would probably be a good idea to go ahead and start saving, when i bought mine it did the same thing, about 2 months later my engine finally died

u can try to prolong the life by mixing in some block weld ,, or somethihng of the sort to try to prolong the failure,,

Wouldn't block weld leaking into the rotor housing be bad?

If the water seals are going bad, would I see a reduction in vacuum at idle?
