hard start! WTF

In November I did the Vaccum line job replaced the check valves (viton), spark plugs (9's all around), plug wires, new injectors all around, and one solinod and a 700 amp battery. now she has a hard time starting and it takes a while to start, it smokes a little once started and reeks of unburnt fuel (pig rich like an old V8). any ideas???? I'm planning on changing the fuel filter within the next week or so. thanks.

I have searched this. also my mileage went down from 16mpg to 11.39mpg! I'm thinking maybe the cats are on their way out (still have the stock cats in place. waiting for a high flow before installing e dp). Does any one have any ideas?

I have the same problem. The three things that i found that needed to be replaced on my car are the thermo sensor, the NOK sensor and the crank sensor. Thats just my car, i dont know if that is what you guys have, but check those out. I have the same problem. My car smells like unburnt fuel, and smokes like hell when started. I have to either pump the gas of ease it VERy VERy slowly to get it started. Check those out. I hope this helps.

I replaced a thermo sensor that was dried out and broke and I also installed the 2nd gen thermo switch for the fans. that wouldn't have any effect on start up though. my car sat for almost a full month with it's nose in the air on jack stands while I did the vac line job. I'm hoping to replace the fuel filter today as I'm not sure when the last time that was (third owner) the dude that had it before me put 2000 miles on it in over four years. so I think there might be some unwanted crap in the filter. It ran fine before the vac job. I thought about putting bottle of fuel system cleaner through it on my next fill up. ray had said BG44K would do the trick, however it costs $20.00+ and I don't know any where locally to get it. maybe i've got some crud in an injector. any recomendations???

The cats won't affect mileage much unless they are almost totally plugged, and in that case, you will make very little power because of the restriction. Leaky injectors seems like a more probably cause of the large mileage decrease.

What temperature are you starting it at? Hot start and coldstart or just cold start? Does is smoke just on start up or all the time? More info?
