Hard left turns at WOT = smoke screen

My car:
'94 5spd. w/15k miles on Mazda reman
Blitz Catback

Hard left turns at almost full throttle, smoke comes out of the turbo area on the engine bay. It seems that oil is leaking onto the turbos or exhaust manifold and is getting burnt off. Either that or oil is getting into the turbo's internally and getting burnt off. I peeked into that area but couldnt see anything out of the ordinary with all the stock crap in the way. I've only experienced this on Left hand turns. I havent installed my boost gauge yet but car makes good power and turbos seem to be working well. Any idea what could be causing this? Im going to be installing an HKS downpipe next weekend so the turbo area will be exposed.

Thanks

I've had this happen on hard Right hand turns. It was caused by the oil being pushed up into the filler tube and sucked thru the purge control system. Common on track cars and hard driven cars. Thats why they make the catch can. I'm still thinking what could cause it on left hand turns though. Just wanted to share a similar experience and maybe shed some light on it. What is the oil level in your car?How many miles on your turbos? ( i see the 15k on the reman) Dave Edit: Also. have you pulled off any of the IC pipes and looked at the inside to see if there is an excessive amount of oil on the inside? I'm thinking maybe oil seal on the turbos. ( This may help determine if the leak is before combustion or after and just being burned in the exhaust system.)

That doesn't cause a smoke screen though. Just causes your intake track to get oil into it, usually exiting through the BOV.

True...That's why I added on the comment about the oil seals being bad. After further inspection on mine the oil seals(amongst other things) in my T 78 went bye-bye. Under hard cornering or aceleration I looked like James Bond. Also my engine had some internal issues with the oil rings on the rotors. So i guess my experience is alot worse, and not all that similar.

I took off the pipe that goes into the intercooler from the turbos to check for oil but its relatively clean. Nothing out of the ordinary. I have to check the pipe exiting the IC for puddles of oil.

Lets say I'm at an intersection waiting for the light so I can turn left (90degree turn). When the light turns green, I floor it through the whole turn and shift fast into second. Looking in the rearview, I see a trail of smoke and at the next light, smoke comes out from the right side of the engine bay and all under the car.

If I open her up on a straight away, the car doesnt smoke at all. I'll have to "test" the car on right hand turns just to make sure no smoke comes out.

when i floor it on left hand turns the rear end usually ends up in the front, heh. does it smell like burnt oil?
have you changed the diff fluid recently?

Sounds like an oil leak around the oil return lines from the turbo to the block. When you take a hard left, the oil will be forced to that side of the motor and oil may back up the oil drain lines a bit causing more leakage.

Your car is the first I have heard with this problem. Post back when you find the problem.

i have an identical problem with my car, FYI. and yes, the oil return lines actually look to have some sort of leakage. ive experienced a deficiency in boost as well.
