pull off the center console and hope you got lucky in that it just popped out...otherwise if it broke it's going to be a PITA to fix as the cable is run slightly under the carpet...

are your rear brakes worn though??? When was the last time you changed your pads... |
My handbrake doesn't fully work. These is some free play towards the bottom then kicks in about the middle. But when I'm cruising and pull the handbrake all the way it doesn't lock up, just slows down. I replaced my pads a couple of months ago but should be fine. What do I need to make my handbrake lock up even at cruising speeds?Need to start drifting it!

As 7 racer said in his post right above yours, there is a bolt you can tighten to create more tension in the cable quicker. Pull off the center console and check it out. Find a FSM and look in that if all else fails. And you don't need an e-brake to drift. RWD + high powered car = lots of wheelspin whenever you want it. |

haha holy crap, your never going to get your fd to lock its rear wheels unless you install a hydrolic e-brake! the stockers are good enuf to get your tail around a corner though if you warm them up after tightening it down quite a bit. they do put on enough drag on the rears to do very tight 180's (i can do mines within 2 fairly narrow lanes). in anycase, either powerover or if your fd is really fked power wise, clutch kick if you need it. BTW: your gonna crash your car if you attempt to drift it! its not me putting you down but a fact of life, drift=crash |

you might need to take off your exhuast and look up in to the tranny tunnel to find where it snapped... |
Was there a pun intendid on the spelling of handbrake?
|
absolutely, I did find it, it broke about 1 1/2 feet down the cable. Ray at Malloy Mazda git me the cable for $28 and said that it shouldn't be that bad because of where it broke. Should be here Friday so we'll see.
