half a tank of gas got me 7 miles away

was going on guyz! i finally got my car started today... ran alright... it was stalling @ low rpms so i took it to the base hobby shop and hooked up a couple of vac. lines... cranked it up and still dying on idle... so i started to chek fuses and next to the circuit opening realy on the pressure regulator, there was a blown fuse.. so i replaced it and it ran perfectly well @ idle (ignoring the huge trail of smoke its allway leaving behind, i guess its running too rich). so i back the car up and there it is a puddle of gas coming out of the gasket between the dp and the catback. WTF!?!?! gas!!!!! so i put in on a lift and walla! its all over the bottom of the manifold and a lil bit down the dp and turbos... i cant exactly point out where its coming from (near the turbos, but how the hell is it getting inside my exhaust? also y had to drive it back bc i didnt have no one to tow me... but every time i get to 3krpms.. boom!! backifires + as the rpms go up it hesitates like ist chokin on gas (bogs, wont respond to the throttle)... i just got the car and everyone thinks im crazy.... but im happy i finally got my POS FD... this car was recently rebuilt (15miles ago) and the guy who put it on did the shitiest job ever... thats what happens when a puertorican moves to montana instead of staying home, the place were u can find a rotary mechanic inside a dumpster. puerto rico. anyways by the time i ended my day spent 10 bucks on gas to get 3.5 miles to the shop and 3.5 miles back... i took pictures but there too big and i dunno how to make em small... any thing to add?? im all ears

I would wonder about one of the injectors sticking open and also the fuel pressure regulator. Where the vacuum line connects to the regulator if the regulator is skewed the engine will draw fuel directly into the intake manifold through the vacuum line. Disconnect the vacuum line at the regulator and cycle the fuel pump. If its the regulator damaged you should be able to see fuel coming out to the regulator. Surely there are a lit of other things but this is where I would start. I wouldn't drive/run the car/engine until you get that fuel leak fixed.

check the FPR, all injectors, and also check and see if maybe one of your lines is busted open or something and its just running down the turbos/dp. I would have all of that checked cause obviously this is a serious situation.

is there a chance that my secondary injectors(1300cc) are open???!?! or that the conected them backwards!?!? cause thst was A LOT of gas coming out... every time i reved it came out like if u where sapray painting the floors

spekdah 02-07-04 08:58 PM

do you have a PFC? this could enable you to monitor your fuel and maybe help isolate the problem

clayne 02-07-04 09:02 PM

All o-rings replaced upon installation of 1300 cc injectors???

It sounds to me like the injectors are totally leaking, pooling gas into the crevice between the LIM and rotor housing, and then pouring fuel down the side of the manifold.

Guaranteed burnt down car if you drive it in this fashion.

the pfc should be here in 2 weeks... right now im on the stocker... but since im brakin in the motor i dont pass 3ks

humm... i bought the car like this but ill ask the guy... but the thing is that its driping from the gasket between the dp and the cat... so how is it getting inside there.... it also looks like its coming from the turbo, like you said but i dont think it ill get inside my tube...

xxfetusmanusxx 02-07-04 09:24 PM

Because it's pooling up and pouring down the side of everything.

How did you not notice the fact that is was running like total shit when you were purchasing the car?

Anyways, just post the picture.

xxfetusmanusxx 02-07-04 09:58 PM

the car didnt even run when i bought it... i love working on it... specially when a mechanic looks @ it and says: its just like a honda, right???

clayne 02-07-04 10:01 PM

Okay, so as I mentioned to you before. It is pooling between the top of the housing and the LIM. Then running down like a waterfall, hitting various pipes and the DP on it's way down.

Take the UIM off of the car, removing the ACV (on the side of the LIM) and you will see the pool of fuel.

heres the leak

thanx 4 input

I feel the same, The injectors were probably installed wrong or not with new rubber O-rings and the fuel is shooting out aroung the injectors and pooling up on top and then dripping down everywhere, Start taking things apart, And if your shooting out $10 worth of gas for 6miles your gonna blow yourself up, stop driving it...

xxfetusmanusxx 02-08-04 01:46 PM

i took a look up top today.... and everything looks clean.. even the top of the downpipe, i think its leaking through it and leaking out the gaskets... the picture was taken a week ago...

wtf?!?!?! why does it duplicate my posts??? nevermind

Fritz Flynn 02-08-04 02:29 PM

Your injectors were not installed correctly and the fuel is simply flowing right by the 0 rings into your engine and passing through your exhaust. I'm surprised you got it started. Whatever you do please stop driving it. Simply pull the manifold and replace the crommets and o rings on the injectors and your problem will be solved.
Good luck,
Fritz

PVerdieck 02-09-04 05:21 PM

I think you mean "grommets"

xxfetusmanusxx 02-09-04 05:45 PM

i was wondering what the hell it was... thanx :D
