H20 in oil pan

changed the oil today and had my friend top off the filler while i was getting the tools to adjust my tps when he accidently added water into the oil fill cap. any precautions i should take? Or just change out the oil?

thanks

jamespond24 06-12-07 11:14 PM

I would change the oil again.

pinkrx7 06-12-07 11:49 PM

cool. i was thinking that too. or like a quick rinse of oil with the drain plug off before i actually add oil.. -thanks

Ok....how in the HELL do you pour water down the oil filler neck?

But yes, I would just run some oil back through. Any water left in will boil off pretty quickly....

Did he fess up to pouring oil into your overflow bottle and washer fluid?

pinkrx7 06-13-07 03:26 AM

does "OH SH!T! I poured half this bottle of [distilled water] in your SH!T!"?

Keep your friend away from your FD.

OMG milk shake maddness! after two oil changes (10 minutes driving between each) theres still milk shake.. and when i turn my car off i hear some rattling sound =O

JHew84 06-15-07 11:54 AM

I don't know if I would have run it until you did quite a few flushes, when water mixes with oil and then gets sloshed around it usually tends to get really frothy and turn into a, well you said it pretty good, milkshake . I would just keep putting oil in it and letting it drain out, i'm not exactly sure how much this will help since oil and water don't really mix, so I can't see this being a terribly affective way to "wash" the water out. At the same time I can't think of anything else that you could pour in there that would be any better.

pinkrx7 06-15-07 11:43 PM

ive poured about 3 gallons of oil down there. still has milkshake affect =[.

GoodfellaFD3S 06-15-07 11:59 PM

You're hearing a rattling noise when the car shuts off? It seems normal otherwise?

pinkrx7 06-16-07 10:25 AM

i actually only heard rattling noise once. oil pressure seems high under load... seems ;like it can ge4t to 120 if i tried.. and engine is idliong a little uneven. maybe i put the air control vavle too low. actually i forgot what its called (plus screw driver head next to throttle cables.. but anyway. still milkshake. im going to use 10w30 instead of the 20w50 maybe it rinses better?

justturbo2 06-16-07 12:04 PM

keep changing the oil. it may have gotten into the oilcooler(s) if it got to the right temp. good luck getting that milkshake out.

pinkrx7 06-16-07 12:37 PM

so i should:

- drain oil
- add oil
- run car

repeat?

GoodfellaFD3S 06-16-07 01:02 PM

what idle rpm?
what idle vacuum?
oil px is 120 at idle when the car is fully warmed up?

pinkrx7 06-16-07 01:09 PM

after i adjusted the idle to about 750-600 i got about 20mmhg in vac then like i revved it hard and it became about 15 so its kinda wierd. im thinking a line popped off when i pulled the throttle cable to rev it.

anyway, oil psi is normal but after it is fully warm ~7-8 min I see the oil pressure rising at a greater rate than normal with less throttle input.

my idle right now is at ~750 but im thinking it was set to low and the ecu is auto correcting it?

GoodfellaFD3S 06-16-07 01:12 PM

600 is definitely too low. for a stock port lightly modded car, 800 is probably appropriate.

sounds like vacuum/compression is fine, but of course your potential issue lies in the oiling system, not the combustion chamber......

pinkrx7 06-16-07 10:00 PM

yeah =[ i just changed another 3.8 quarts of oil out. same thing but its less milky. i guess its just going to be a LOT of cycles..
