Guys i need some advice

Hey you guys i am a 16 yearold and my cash flow is minimal. But i am saving up to get either an RX-7 or one of 2 different mitsubishi eclipses. Either the GSX cause it is the 4 whell version(probably a 96 turbo) or the GS-T.. I am really thinking of going with the RX-7 because i love these cars. When it comes to cars i am a workaholic... And i was just wondering what you guys think..... Ohh yeah and while i am thinking of this stuff i will eventualy be building it for racing once i get a better job so i think in the long run the RX-& will be worth it. And i have allready done some work on my friends rotary so i know my way around them...

Consider insurance, tires, and everything else. I started looking into Rx-7's at 18, and it took a couple of years before I had the money to consider it all together.

You can get a GST for cheap. The insurance is less too. However, the car sucks. I've only driven the automatic, but it's really sluggish until the turbo kicks in. I've driven an auto Rx-7 too, which is a lot less responsive than the 5 speed, but it's still quite a bit more responsive than the GST auto. The volkswagen corrado is a better car in terms of responsiveness. (though it has its own share of issues). If you do like the Eclipse, I'd go with the GST which is the lightest of the turbo bunch, and the Mitsubishi AWD won't do anything for you anyway.

For <$10k you can actually get some decent Subarus (Like 98 2.5RS). if you're into 4 wheel drive, I'd go with that. If you're speed-nuts and have some more dough later on, you can turn it into a 98 WRX STI, more or less, and still pay for 2.5RS insurance. You could also get a 2nd gen for really cheap, but I've always been turned off by the 2nd gens since you always would have to stare up at the 3rd gens.

If you're not object to going for big American cars the firebirds and stuff can be had for cheap. I'd stay away from hondas though, which are overpriced.

I guess it all comes down to this, which has been said a thousand times on this forum: If you're willing to accept the cost, time, and dedication involved, the Rx-7 is well worth it.

well

I am willing to put in work on it and i definately like to go fast. I know cars like firebirds are great.. My friends dad works at a car dealership and he borrowed a 2001 firebird trans am convertable with factory body kit and ground effects. that thing was tight. manual and all.. I got it up to 145 mph my friend who apparently doesn't shift as smoothly as me(wich is odd cause he has a manual truck) tried 3 times and still couldn't get over 120... all in all those cars are nice but i would really like an RX-7 i am thinking maybe save up until my senior year and by then i should have enough... though it would leave me without a car until then... i also was looking at an 89 FS i think it was but i knew i would allways still be looking at the FD cause they are soo amazing... i don't know im gonna shop around a little more till i have about 8 thousand and then start really looking closely at my options. you really think the subaru is that nice of a car?? i mean they are ok over the summer my friend and i got his moms up to 100 but that took a while and it is auto... I am just looking to get a car that i can set up to race and see which has more potential...

Also THERE is NO WAY i would buy a civic... no offense to anyone that reads this that has one just i do not like them. them and the other hyndais or whatever they are..

good FD is around 18k, unless of coarse you spend 12k for one and spend 5k fixing it up(if engine blows double to 12k)

Whoa Whoa Whoa bud.. It sounds to me like you need to slow down and relax...Trying to get cars up too top speed can be very danerious and is not to be done all the time Now with that said ill get too ur question :D...It all really really depends what you want...Do u like turbo, do u like all motor, Nitrous etc? it really all depends the type of speed you want...Do u want an all out straight-Line Monster or do you want some finesse with that speed? Also what type of drive-type do you perfer? Its too much of a Generalized question to ask what car should i get for X amount of dollars...BTW Moderators shouldnt this be on another part of the forum?

i know doing topspeed isn't good for the cars all the time but this was a one day thing and when we returned it to they lot we stayed an extra couple of hours with the mechanics and helped check and make sure everything was allright... I like cars with turbos and i also like muscle cars... The only thing is NY sucks and they have now outlawed non factory intakes... Just to be bass turds. mainly i will be doing street racing because there really aren't that many straight 1/4 miles around here... the place i got the T/A up to 145 was kindof a gradual down hill 1/4 mile with gradual turns and i had driven it several times so i knew the road like the back of my hand... I prefer cars with good acceleration and good topspeed... I was also looking into Trans ams a little while ago because i like the pure power from that 8 cyl Beast and the sound the engine makes off the start is just amazing.
and i know it should be in a different forum i posted it here because the other forums seem to have like no replys...
