Guage Wiring Help
 

I'm looking for some help on 2 questions related to the installation of a Greddy water temperature gauge in an A-pillar pod:

1- Per an earlier thread related to aftermarket water temp guage, the sensor is installed in a Greddy radiator hose adaptor in the upper radiator hose. Does this adaptor need to be grounded? The sensor has two leads back to the gauage- my sense is that it does not need to be gounded, which leads to the 2nd question...

2- in addition to the 2 sensor leads, the guage also has another 4 leads going to it. One is a ground, the next is the power for the lamp- I already have those up to the pod with the lamp in my boost guage that had been there in a single pod. The last 2 leads are 12+volt continuous, and 12+volt off the ignition. Again, the guage is in an A-pillar pod- any suggestions on where to pick-up these leads under the dash in the LH footwell?

my only question is why did you spend so much on the greddy gauge? i got the autometer (65 bux) and it screws right in behind the coolan fill neck. No cutting, no boring, no tapping, no nothing!

Because I already had the Greddy 52mm boost guage, and wanted to have them match. Actually, the radiator hose adaptor is an easy install, and the annodized piece looks good.

I think Clayne didn't read your post as it is NOT about power and ground. I searched for that too and there is nothing there related to your question.

I take it you don't have the wiring diagram for the gauge and need to figure out what the leads are for? Anyone got a Greddy Water Temp gauge wiring diagram?

No, I have the wiring diagram. I'm looking for a switched positive lead, (energizes when you turn on the key) and a constant power (positive) lead. Both of those are to power the electronic guage. The other 2 leads are for the internal light in the guage (I have those already with my prior-existing boost guage).
i was hoping that someone had gone down this road before, and could share a solution before I start on it. I guess I could just stick a wire in the fuse box, but that's not terribly elegant, is it? And the loom to the fuse box doesn't seem too accessible either. I'm actually thinking about bringing it in from under the hood, but before I do, I thought I'd ask.

Connect the power wires to the same ones as the boost gauge.

If there are two wires coming off the sender, one should be a ground wire, and you must ground it. The adapter does not need to be grounded if the sender is grounded.
