Guage pod location? Photos would be awesome

Looking to see where people like to stick there gauges. I previously, in my last FD had two gauges installed on the a-pillar and it seemed that while driving every now and then I would hit my hand on the top gauge. I could not put the gauge pod down lower on the a pillar, and I could not raise it up because it would look odd. Now I am trying to figure out where to put my gauges in my new FD. I looked and looked for pictures of the center speaker pod but could not find enough that satisfied me. Im also curious to see how some look installed under the radio in the second din area.

looks good, is it a little challenging to focus on the gauges while driving?

As above, a three-gauge pod in the central speaker mount

Since these pics, I also have another 62mm GReddy gauge in an A-pillar mount, which like the OP I also kept clouting my knuckles on, so I cut it down to just be a single mount, which works fine. Since I've lost the Apexi Power FC (and therefore no longer have a Commander either) in faovur of a Link ECU I've now got my wideband mounted where the Commander was (no pic of that either though, sorry)

The one I focus more often is the cooling temperature gauge, which is the one on the far left. I don't have any problem looking at it once awhile during the drive, the other 2 I don't pay attention as much, which is oil temp and pressure. Boost gauge is pretty much right in front of you so you see it all the time.

Okay, Im only looking to run 2 gauges water temp, and oil or fuel pressure

Din installation

Looks like OEM. VDO gauges with orange bulb covers. Matches oem lighting prefectly.

Where did you get that bottom din guage pod? do they sit in there well?

mr2dude9161 08-08-11 03:21 PM

I have a steering wheel pod I made myself. I am willing to trade for the stock piece plus 30 bucks on top and shipping of the plastic.

Is this the Pettit or RE-Amemiya pod? I really like the angle of the gauge in these pics. Nice setup.

Ditched the timer awhile ago. A Pettit single gauge will sit in its place for my Aquamist WI gauge ;)

This is the one I got

http://www.egauges.com/vdo_acce.asp?...4_DIN&Manf=All

If I had to do it over again, I would get a plastic one that snaps into place. Mine was kind of a pain in the ass to install. Looks nice though :)

I think "Bill M" has the snap in panel. I don't remember where he got it.

I am still working on the write up and should be done with it soon. It was not that hard just time consuming.

Thanks brotha :-)

^ Holy sh!t lol, is the fuel gauge not working?

Railgun 08-09-11 10:52 AM

Don`t all gauges read no gas? :P

I can`t remember what exactly it was at the time...I think it was disconnected. Now it reads pegged the other way. :) But that`s for a whole other reason.
