Guage Cluster Questions

I posted in the interior section but haven't really gotten anything.

I am wanting to redo my guage cluster only keeping the speedo and tach. I do not want to use the smaller (height wise) digital guages that were used in one write up. Problem is the taller guages would require cutting or folding of the green plastic circut board thing on back of the cluster plastic.

Does anyone know exactly what this green thing is for? Is it just a looped curcut for getting power to all pieces on the guage cluster? If thats the case could it be ditched, cut, folded, what have you to get things to work? Would it be doable cutting and running seperate power lines to the tach and spedo?

Thanks for any help, advice anyone might be able to offer.
