Grinding UIM

I have a J spec UIM that I would like to shave off any extra material from the outside. Any bump or solonoid location will be filled prior to polish etc. I am not keeping any emissions equipment. Anybody ever done this? I really want it to look clean.

Exactly Rich, Once again hats off to you!

str8ryd Feb 16, 2008 08:50 AM

That looks great Rich. Did you polish the entire underside?

GARCO MOTORWORKS Feb 16, 2008 08:58 AM

I too have done this plus on mine I removed the four nipples grouped together on the front side ,and the nipples on the passenger side including the big one for the brake booster .I cut off the flange on the bottom with a band saw and had all those holes welded . The franges for the double throttle gone as well as the aws mount . The idle speed control is still there . All holes are pluged so the holes are flush on the inside and smoothed out for good air flow . Most all of my vacuum lines are hidden for a clean look.

The parts are cerama-chromed, which is superior to polishing in just about every way.

David, I'll have to give your engine bay a closer look at Deal's Gap this year, I was too engrossed in your rims to notice under the hood :D

GARCO MOTORWORKS Feb 16, 2008 09:58 AM

Every one on the forum hates them but at the shows and on the street I get alot of people saying they like them and more than a few even know the brand . I can not guess how many have taken picts of the bay then they go to the wheels .
