Greddy Stock Mount IC Piping/Ducting???

Having trouble getting everything connected properly.

After mounting Greddy Stock Mount (small) Intercooler in place, noticed following problems:
-Greddy elbow and connector pipe is 4" too long. Kit from Greddy says that this should work for stock IC or Greddy Stock Mount IC.
-Orig. air ducting idea is poor and only covers 1/2 of IC. and has very poor fitment. (loose)

I would really appreciate any advice or direction on this....Especially those who actually have experience with this SPECIFIC installation.

Thanks.

I heard somewhere that Pettit duct they used to sell could replace the factory duct install method, but after calling them, they said that those are not avail. due to redesign of their own intercooler.

I made my own ducting. As for the pipe it sounds like you have the pipe that is designed to go with the GREDDY elbow. When I bought mine used it was missing the same pipe so I had to buy a custom made replacement.

I have the same set up as you are installing. The pipe from the elbow to the IC was intended for the stock IC. All I did was cut the pipe shorter to make it pipe fit between the elbow and the Greddy IC. You only need a hacksaw.

Yeah, you have the pipe made for the greddy elbow. What type of ducts do you have? I have the aluminum ducting pieces for the greddy SMIC if you want them. I sell for cheap! :p: I got my hands on the pettit duct before they stopped makin em! :D

Hey zUMIEz, What did you do with your duct connection?? Just cut original duct per instructions or fab your own??

I would like to know if those who fabricated their own, scrapped the stock duct altogether or added to stock one...?

Hey RX7SpirtR, Are we talking about the small Stock mount Greddy IC? I've been told that SMIC stands for standard mount which is usually larger than the little stock mount one that they made and stopped selling.

If you have ducting that would work, I'll probably need it.

Standard and Stock Mount are the same just using different names. There was only one size.

I used a PFS duct. I had to cut it up to make it fit, but now it's fine. Not a perfect fit, but a heack of a lot better than before. My pipes fit just fine with a bit of elbow grease

When I made my own ducting I used the stock duct and modifed the part that connects to the intercooler.

zUMIEz 03-22-04 06:19 PM

tlehnen, I just cut the ducting that came with the Greddy elbow. It should be a polished aluminum piece of 3" pipe with a slight bend in it. That is, if we are talking about the same thing.

I don't know if that peice is a cover or if it actually covers the hole that would have connected to the air box. If you're not still using the stock airbox then you need to cover that hole. I doubt duct tape is strong enough. Plastic or aluminum should work and maybe silicone if you want it tight. Make it larger then the hole and screw it in. Now if you don't have the battery box cover then again you need to take care of that as well.

Can we see some pics?

the pipe is 2.75, not 3.

I'll confess I did not go out and measure it. And in all probability it is in mm vs. inches anyway. But I believe we are talking about the same pipe.
