Greddy magnetic oil drain plug
Is this really useful? Juan is selling it for 16$ on his website.

I have had one since I bought my FD. Previous owner had installed it. Every time I change my oil it collects a fair amount of gunk. It used to collect more, but since I installed a FilterMAG, it's quite a bit less.
Personally, I would spend the money on a FilterMAG before the drain plug. Very strong Earth magnet, and more surface area. Rx7.com has a nice blurb about it, and it's where I got mine. If you need a new drain plug I guess it can't hurt to purchase. What I've often wondered was why people use magnetic drain plugs when the oil goes through the oil filter before entering the engine. With that said, I also have one of those FilterMAGs, though it was given to me haha.
Here's a diagram of the rotary engines oil flow. This isn't an REW but the oil flow is similar. http://mazdarx7.iougs.com/Graphics/l...ionsystem1.jpg

Marty, we're gonna need more plutonium! As far as on topic, I don't know if either option will necessarily help anything. It definitely won't hurt. But, is that magnet going to save apex seals? Or a water seal? No. This would be something to get when you have everything else 100%. I've seen too many FD's where owners spend money on silly things and miss the basics. Dale |
