Greddy Breather Tank

Hey everyone, I desperately need a new AST, and was interested in the Greddy Breather Tank. However, I am unsure if its fits the FD, and have been searching for some time and can't find anywhere that sells them specifically for the FD. PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks for your time!

The AST is the tank that seperates air from the water system,,, the greddy breather tank is a tank that catches oil particles before they enter the inlet manifold from variouse breather systems,,, they are not the same thing,,,u need to do some reading my friend

^^^ I agree with Rich! Do it once... with the right part. Why use a "universial" kit, when for a few bucks more you can get one that is designed specifically for the FD. My 2 cents worth.

Goodluck on whichever path you choose to go on this...

I don't see where he jumped on anything. The breather tank is open to atmosphere and completely different from an air seperation tank and he was correct in pointing that out so this guy didn't try to use a breather tank for the wrong pourpose. You did some research (which the other guy didn't) and found out Greddy makes tanks for both purposes. A universal catch tank can be used for a breather can or an over flow recovery tank, it can't be used for pressurized system unless it was designed for that purpose.

Greddy calls their AST a Radiator Breather Tank:

That breather tank is a pretty nice part - I discovered it some time back. My only beef is the extra nipple - you'd have to cap it off, which I don't care for. I guess you could also have the nipple cut off and welded shut.

Someone just has to be the guinea pig for it. I do like that it uses a regular Japanese radiator cap, and it actually comes with a nice Greddy cap too (which are a little pricey). Pretty good bang for the buck.

There's no reason I can see that it wouldn't work, but it would take a small amount of modification to work (ie, dealing with the 3rd nipple).

Lantz, I found one in Queens from the shop I go to for $120 if you wanna go down August 12th, I'm getting my pfc tuned down there and shooting over to HIN(if it's not cancelled this time). When do you get your engine back?

I got one, the only real problom was that extra niple and you have to get a new presure cap. Its a nice fit the two hole on top match the stock holes perfectly but you have to bend it slightly. I ended up redoing this and putting 2 90 degree bends 1/2 apart just to clear the IC lip.

thanks for the picture looks like a great unit! anthony i have work on wednesdays... naturally :) and my shortblock comes back this week!!! so i'll be in the shop all week and weekend so no racing drinking or any of that fun stuff. just waiting on some other goodies to bolt to the motor and i should be ready by my vacation to drive to ray wilson to whip up a very sweet tune. ;)

MADDSLOW 07-24-06 02:17 PM

why do you have to get a new pressure cap? Thanks for the pic by the way!

eo2am 07-24-06 02:30 PM

The one I got with the AST was not a pressure cap it was just a seal cap like the one on the filer neck on the block. So I think I bought the 1.9 or 1.8 bar Greddy pressure cap to replace that one and put the seal cap on the filler neck.
