Greddy 2 Row FMIC (M spec core) vs. Greddy SMIC
Why go with the M-spec core FMIC if it requires a lot of re-positioning of other parts and possible cutting of front bumper and such when you can just get the SMIC? And why the huge price difference between the two? M-spec = $530 SMIC = $1100. And the M-spec is for stock twins just as the SMIC. So what's the advantage or use in buying the M-spec? Because it's cheaper?
I know it's a lot of questions but it's bugging me. Brad |
The SMIC was designed specifically for the 7. The only 7 specificthing about the FMIC is the piping. Its the diffence between selling on mass or margin. Theyre selling buttloads of those FMIC's at low prices. Theyre selling very few SMIC's for more money. The FMIC is far and away a better intercooler but no 7 with a stock radiator would be wise in running a front mount.

the benefits of the SMIC over the FMIC are as follows:
1.direct fit (no cutting or repostitioning) way less of a headache to install 2. Shorter IC piping resulting in less turbo lag 3. tucked out of the way of road debris 4. doesnt heat soak the rad the benifits of the FMIC over the SMIC are as follows 1.Possibly bigger core (especialy compared to the Greddy SMIC) 2. It Looks Super Cool |
Thanks for the replies. I might just try and hunt me a used SMIC.

it also depends on what kind of driving you want to do with your car.Everyday driving and autocross you would be better with a SMIC. Stock mounts are rediculously easy to install.some front mounts are easier to install than others but are much more involved.I have the M spec and it wasnt hard to install, just abit time consuming.
