on the L is the dowel that fell out of the rotor housing and bounced off the surface, sad.

Resurface it again :shocking:

Personally, if I couldn't afford to replace it, I'd use a machinist rule as a gauge to find the burs around the gouge and a small stone to remove the minimum material to make the burs level with the face. Don't worry about the dent.

Check the video http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wankel_engine and you'll see you might get away with Gadd's suggestion. I would pm BDC or 680RWHP12a (Robert @ rotary shack) as they are trusted builders and would give even better advice.

Smooth it down with emory cloth or a flat, fine file (such as an ignition file) and you will be good to go. It won't affect anything, being so small, and out away from the oil control ring tract.

it has depth to it, is it useful to measure how much of the surface was taken off?
