Gotham Short Shifter

I just bought one. Does anybody have any tips or suggestions on the installation. So ther wont be as much vibration.

just make sure that you seal it when you put it on so you dont get the tranny oil smell in the car too much and no leaks...

There's really no trick to it, it's probably one of the simplest installs there is. Just don't be afraid to use a hammer on the stock shifter because it is gonna be stuck on there pretty good. Also check the bearing/bushing thing at the bottom of the shifter, if it's damaged get a new one from malloy, otherwise just switch it over and your good to go.

I had to use a gear puller to get that plastic thing off

RXtacy 08-05-04 12:58 PM

Hmm really? All I did was hold the shifter to one side and push the bearing off with my thumbs.

BRTNCUSTOM 08-05-04 04:40 PM

What kind of sealent?

PandazRx-7 08-05-04 05:01 PM

Just seal it with some silicone. Kai is right, I accidently dropped my old shifter on the floor mat and it smelled horrible even after 3 months.

Also, it definitly CAN be somewhat of a pain if the top right bolt of the shifter is tucked away in there.(mis-aligned tranny, etc) Use a thick screw driver/ bar to pry the tranny a little to the left if that's the case...that should give enough room to get the socket on that bolt.

If that doesn't do it, PM me and I'll let you know how I took mine off. I'm sick of typing for now.:)

Yup, tranny oil sur stinks....

BRTNCUSTOM 08-05-04 05:14 PM

Thanks for the help guys.

KaiFD3S 08-05-04 05:20 PM

anytime....if you do get the vibrations and weird tranny noise, dont worry too much about it . you only hear it because that rubber sealer around the shifter is now gone...good luck and have fun..

BRTNCUSTOM 08-05-04 05:23 PM

IS there any way to keep the rubber piece.

KaiFD3S 08-05-04 05:26 PM

you could keep it but it just won't seal as good as it does with the stock one..

BRTNCUSTOM 08-05-04 05:40 PM

Would it eliminate the vibration?
