Got my quote for my engine rebuild....

Parts: $10,723
Labor: $2790

Bacon 01-11-02 08:01 PM

please tell me your building a 20b perff port from scrach with 100% new parts

Mindphrame 01-11-02 08:17 PM

OMG....thats just insane. You and buy a 3rd gen around here for that. Thats just insane.

And Bacon..just to get off topic here. I notice your sig, 13.034 in 1/4 with a 2.3 60 ft time running 15 psi. I was just wondering were you spinning the whole way or something? im on a goal to run 15psi but if thats all Ill get whats the point. With street tires I ran 13.41 with a 2.2 60ft time. And Im close to stock. Just seemed weird to me...dunno. Wazap with that?

Bacon 01-11-02 08:35 PM

real shitty launch..first time to the track..shitty tires.... engien had a blown coollant seal...yea it wasnt a great run but them mph was nice..113

Toadman 01-11-02 08:44 PM

Ok.. WHO is quoting you that price?

Jedon 01-11-02 08:47 PM

It's pretty much all new parts. Actually thats the dealer price for parts, I only paid $4300 through MazdaComp.

vosko 01-11-02 08:56 PM

your engine is costing $7k parts and labor..... holy crap. a while ago you could get a NEW jspec engine from mazda fourty ounce on the forum has one was like $2300 because they were out of remans. my engine is costing about $5k-$6k with parts only parts not new are eshaft and rotors :D

Jedon 01-11-02 10:49 PM

It does include a large streetport and ribbed water passages :D
Everything is new except one rotor.

atihun 01-11-02 10:53 PM

What are ribbed water passages?

j9fd3s 01-11-02 10:54 PM

dude just buy the other rotor....
(a 20b rebuild starts at 7k btw....)

mike

Jedon 01-11-02 10:55 PM

The water passages are carved with grooves so that there is more turbulance and more surface area for better cooling. That plus NPG+ should keep me cool (I hope!)

artguy 01-12-02 01:38 AM

holy crap

youre nuts.

hahahah

I have a 2000.00 set of used tennis shoes for sale.

let me know if you are interested.

j

ps..just teasin...Id love to see the car when its done...iIll be down in SD after I break in my motor.

Jedon 01-12-02 02:01 AM

Well I'm going single turbo at the same time with a goal of 430-450 to the wheels so it should be fun....

Why did you post that other number, then?

KINETIK_FD3S 01-12-02 02:39 AM

im in san diego too, and got an entire 99 front clip with 8,000 miles on the motor for 4,200$ plus shipping. and the shop that will do the install is charging me 1,200$.:D

Jedon 01-12-02 11:49 AM

DK: I posted the higher number to show how much new engine parts cost at dealer prices.

KINETIK_FD3S: So for $7090 I get a brand new motor, ported and race prepped, and for $5400 plus shipping (from Japan!) you get a used stock engine? :D
