Is this a good deal on a 95?
 

Im thinking about buying a 95 Rx-7 and was hoping all of you experts could give your opinions?
-95 Rx-7 Black ext, black leather int, sunroof
-about 68,000 miles (original engine and turbos)
-boost gauge inside steering column mount
-excellent condition inside and out, maybe 1-2 rock chips
-17" borbet wheels wrapped with bridge SO-3's
-Racing beat springs and Koni adjustable shocks
-front shock tower brace
-lightweight flywheel, racing clutch
-tri-point cold air induction
-greddy intercooler
-tri-point/thermal R&D stainless cat back w/3' precat and cat
-Peter Farrel ECU computer w/3 way adjustable boost (9.5,12,&14)
-new boost hoses, wire tied vacuum hoses
-99 RX-7 hard intake pipe
pioneer head with 12 disk, amp, etc.
-just had 60,000 maint done, and new AST.
$18,000
opinions would be much appreciated!

Then, yes, most definitely. 95s are very hard to find and it seems this one has all of the right safety mods. I'd go check it out and take her on a test drive.

Make sure you run a carfax.

already did test drive it, runs great. compression checked out at 95 and 95 (not really sure what that means) that is what the guy at Tri-Point Engineering said. And carfax checked out clean!

oh, do you guys think there is going to be a problem because it still has a stock radiator?

95 and 95??? or 9.5 and 9.5?

Shouldn't be. It would be a good idea to put in an aftermarket aluminum one that won't leak.

Sounds nice. I've seen the R&D exhaust from Tri-Point and it's tight. I wanted a '95 but they are rare.

Ok, anyways, I'll make this one shorter...

Sounds like a sweet deal...with the engine at 68k allready you can prbly expect to have to get the engine redone some where not too far down the line, although some people go to 100k+, I think most have a second engine somewhere around 70k+. If you do have to go with the reman, you can kill two birds with one stone by getting a street port and 2mm apex seals while the engine is out. With all those mods a street port is prbly in order. But, if you have good compression now (I don't know what 95-95 indicates) and maintain it well (always replace fluids etc.) you might be able to hold off for a while...:)

Make sure you ask the guy if he's firm on the price, and make sure that you won't have to replace anything in the near future (eg. tires)

To sum up, looks like a nice list of mods for the price, I'd go with it unless you'd rather take your chances with a low mileage 7 (pretty rare)

95-95 probably means 95psi front 95psi rear

If it is 9.5 Kg-f/cm2 that is a good number if it 95 psi then it is bad. The minimum is 7.0 Kg-f/cm2 and 100 psi. You definitely need to investigate this further. However I feel you will be disappointed. I don't see an engine with that high ileage making compression in the 9's. Good luck.

Thanks to all with the advice, I will take it all into consideration and I'll investigate the compression further and find out what those numbers mean. Any more advice will be greatly appreciated.

95 and 95 must refer to psi. 9.5kg/cm^2 is basically impossible. The factory new spec is 8.5kg/cm^2. 95 could also refer to 95/100 on a 100 point scale, I have heard of instances where compression is rated on a 1-10 scale (why I have no idea, this is retarded but I guess more idiot friendly) so this is plausible but unlikely. After '93 the minimum spec was lowered to 85 psi so 95 psi i still within spec (I consider it within spec for all years but either way...), a little low but evenness between chambers is more important than absolute numbers. If it drives nice, I'd be all over it, '95s are extremely rare.
