Getting A New Battery Whats The Best Aftermarket Battery To Get?

Guys my battery is heading south so now i am searching for the best aftermarket battery out there, i hear the best of the best is the GEL Cell batteries, one company i know of called OPTIMA, any ideas what i should go for?

hmmm...I have a optima dry cell, and I really like it, but it is not small. I have i located in the bins behind the seat.

I have a Optima red top, also. Does it fit well in the bin?
What did you have to do?

I used the mounting bracket that is sold at any automotive store, and tapped it down against the frame. I used 4gauge wiring and ran it to the fuse block.

A Hawker Energy Odyssey PC1200MJ will fit in the stock battery compartment with a custom made hold down and minor modding of the Pos cable.

Hmm... I was wondering if the bin was cut out to mount the battery... Optima or Odyssey.

I'll second Lunar7's Hawker/Odyssey recommendation. I've been using a PC925 for a few years, and it's worked fine. I ordered a replacement recently from www.batteryweb.com at a good price. If you buy an Odyssey, I suggest getting the metal jacket and automotive terminal options (no extra charge at batteryweb).

I don't think the Optima will fit in the stock batterey bin, as I tried that before buying the PC1200MJ.
Also, I have had bad luck with Optima on other cars.
They seem to die sudden early deaths for no apparent reason.

Thanks, Lunar7.

I have a 51R size battery mounted on a stainless steel battery tray (by Jeff Hoskinson -in this forum). It is about 1/2 the size & weight of the stock battery and gives me plenty of space for my M2 intercooler. I hope this helps since some of us do like to use the bins for storage.

i have the optima yellow top, it has died on me a couple of times, but i just put it on a trickle charger for a couple of days and it works fine....
