Gauging Interest: Fiberglass non-bose cover

I'm building a new box for my subwoofer and think that the cover might be in the way by being to low. So I came up with something. A fiberglass replica of the cover. I will probably modify mine so it doesn't sit as low though. But if I do actually go through with this, would people be interested in them for purchase?

I mean I have seen how these can kinda break or how many people don't want a bose cover so they look for a non-bose. A perfect condition one can be hard to find or expensive. So I was just thinking that maybe this would be something helpful to the community.

If I produced them they would be like the original cover that comes in the 93 r1. None of the hooks and things on the original would be on the replica but would be area where they are would be marked. They would be strong fiberglass with all exposed areas gel-coated. The edges could be lined with weatherstripping.

Just let me know guys. But for sure I am making me one. Don't know exactly when though. But with a little push I would be happy to get em going.

Why don't you just make the box shorter but longer and wider to compensate?

that's the thing. My design is just that. It's just that the way the sub will be angled it still might have clearance issues.

But the idea isn't just for subwoofer enclosures. It's for people who need a replacement for cheaper.

Also you can add things to a cover that is stronger than OEM. Maybe an amp rack so you can have more trunk space. Maybe even another brake light. You can paint the fiberglass any color. Cover it in vinyl, leather, suede, whatever.

IDK, but rynberg. How come you are always so negative instead of encouraging? Do you not like me. You even said something to me in the battery thread that was negative. I'm sad. Maybe I'm wrong and just still in fight/debate/edgy mode from my other thread in the kills section.

But either way, anyone think this would be a good idea? Maybe some more suggestions on the build of it? If I get enough interest to build I can possibly take individual customization requests.

Well I am negative sometimes but I didn't mean my above post to sound negative, just asking.

How much does a new cover cost? I would be worried about the durability of a fiberglass cover.

I found one new for cheapest at $176 listed w/out shipping. Not a Ray Crowe deal so IDK how much he charges. I think what I was looking at was the cover. It didn't have a pic though.

These would probably be around $100? Have you ever placed something on the cargo rack that was kinda heavy, it flexes and what not. Sure if you mishandle the fiberglass something could happen. That's why I am going to test mine out first with durability and all that jazz. Even if something accidental were to happen and maybe cracks or something, it can be fixed doing a little fiberglass work instead of buying a new one. Resin and fiberglass=$30. Cheapest New cover I know of=$176. Rynberg you might be thinkin that I would use some matting fiberglass.

But imagine how much sturdier it would be to attach things like amps and ability to set heavy objects on. The way the OEM one is designed is to be sturdy and add strength to the material. These would be pretty much the same. So if you combine the design plus the strength of woven fiberglass I think it would be pretty sturdy.

Another plus to this is it's benefit to audio systems. With weatherstripping sides it would almost make the trunk air tight. That combined with a less flexible cover would increase the sound quality alot I think. I'm no engineer or anything but by the ways people design audio systems I think that is what it would do.
