Gauge cluster experts heres one for you.
So my tachometer is not working everything else works. After days searching I found a lot of info to help me pinpoint the problem but I came up short handed. The wire diagram doesnt help me either.
I have done all of this per searching threads- 1- Checked the YELLOW/BLUE wire off the ecu- IT HAS POWER 2- Checked my EMS and it shows the RPMs on the log. 3-Checked the YELLOW/BLUE wire off the tachometer clip off the cluster- NO POWER 4- Removed the tachometer off the cluster and inspect the board- NO DAMAGE So I used my handy test light and checked the 3 phillips head srews that hold the tach in place on the cluster. Looking at it from the board rear the top screw is ground. The left screw is 12v I think... and the right screw has no power what so ever. This is with the car running, clip in the harness and it doesnt show anything. I will be searching some more and will be on the forum for the next couple of hours so if you are a expert drop me some feedback |
Have you check your circuit board on the speedo? The speedo powers and send the signal to the tach.

yup and it was fine.
Well I looked at my EEMS wire diagram and I never had the wire hooked to the output for the tach. Until I find the issue what I did is run my tach output from my standalone straight to the back of the tach. I hooke the wire to the right screw and now I have my tach working again. Does anyone see an issue with me running my tach output wire from my standalone direct to the right screw behind the tach? |
