gasket additives :P
is there anything that you can put on your gasket to ensure that it keeps the seal from leaking .. before you say .. "just get a new gasket" .. i was just wondering .. is there maybe something you can add to it .. sorta like a paste or something .. that can help increase the effectiveness of the gasket .. or prolong the life of the gasket .. and reducing probability of leaks

Well any gasket making material would do what you are asking. Like Permatex or hondabond etc.. But at 10 bucks the UIM gasket is cheap.and reusable to some extent. Not forever but maybe once
If you are having a leak after you have replaced the gasket, then you need to go back and measure the warpage on the LIM flange and the UIM flange. Don't know if that is a problem you are having, just guesing from the topic matter;) |
ok thanks

If the gasket isn't town up I always use Gasgacinch on them.
http://www.starracing.com/Merchant2/...gaskenchsm.jpg It's a gasket-prep that's slightly tacky and works great to promote a good seal. We used it a lot with air-cooled VW motors. It's much better than the permatex Hi-Tack although that's a decent product too. |
cool thanks ill look into both suggestions :)
