Coool.....

FormerPorscheGuy 04-16-04 10:29 AM

What is there purpose? To controll the speed of the headlights as they come up? Explain.

93BlackFD 04-16-04 10:31 AM

hmm, [assholemode]

can you read?

[/assholemode]

popular modification on cars with pop-up headlights is to reduce how much they actually pop up. This little module allows you to variably control the height of the headlights. Includes the controller, wiring, and installation instructions.
Only for 1991-1993 models, but also works for the following cars with pop-up headlight systems : Mazda Miata, RX-7, Toyota Supra, Celica, MR-2, and Nissan 240SX.

Hey asshole, what's the purpose with the stock pop up headlight headlights?

The only way this would be useful and functional is to replace the stock lenses as well.

I nominate you for the design, build, and install. Remember to take pics. ;)

93BlackFD 04-16-04 10:49 AM

hmm, not really

the idea is that they don't popup all theway...have you ever seen the "snake" eye mod on 3000GT/stealths

it looks sorta neat actually, of course you wont get full lighting...but for parking lots/cruising/evenings/dusk

looks awesome :)

WTF is the point to have a light pop up and have light point into the bumper?!?

That's pretty stupid.

It's like the kids who lift their wipers away from the windshields and drive around like that. (As seen in Okinawa).

No point whatsoever.

PwRFreaK 04-16-04 12:17 PM

that looks pretty cool one of my friends has a kit like that on his 300zx (80's something) it looks alot better his actually work better but he modified his headlights so they'd work 100% when half lifted. imo it looks more agressive and better thanks for the Link.

XSTransAm 04-16-04 12:28 PM

i wouldent do it without upgrading the lights or having some hella fog lights... i can barely see as is with mine popped up all the way, I bet this product is really simple and could be reproduced for about 5$ at radioshack... ill let you guys know how to do it in 3 years when if finish my EE degree if ya wanna wait ;)

RotorJoe 04-16-04 12:30 PM

Stupid, put the money torwards HIDs

jpandes 04-16-04 12:31 PM

I've seen those before on ebay . I just wish they weren't 79.00.

apneablue 04-16-04 02:49 PM

I like my stock lights :)

Kaotic Dan 04-16-04 04:34 PM

Keep in mind that both headlight motors move at different speeds, so when useing that time based controller, the headlights wont always end up even. Later.

Every FD I've owned had motors that were perfectly in sync.

All but one of my FCs were fine too.

ptrhahn 04-16-04 04:46 PM

Hey, will this thing point 'em up higher than stock so I can shoot the Bat signal?

2a+RoN 04-16-04 05:19 PM

Its just sleepy eyes, nothing new about that. I don't think there's much purpose to them with the stock lighting system, but I guess some think it looks cool. Whatever floats your boat.

Exactly... they make these things for 240's for the "sleepy eyed" look. Looks great on a 180/240SX but on a FD?

GHEY!

fast sports car + even less lighting = CERTAIN DOOM.

...simple math, really.

also, wouldn't that increase the turbulence at the headlight, causing an even higher chance of losing a headlight cover?

was just a thought, i like the way mine look as they are :) pics to come soon

SiKoPaThX 04-16-04 06:06 PM

Still, there have been a few people who have done sleepy eye conversions on their car here and I'm sure this is a cheaper method.

 The day finally has come where the rice spilled over into the 3rd Gen forum.

Not one person on this forum that I know of have done this to their FD's. If your talking about sleepy eye kits, I have one but there is no way in hell you can use the stock lenses. Sure it may be cheap, but all the lighting is pointed towards the front bumper and right in front of the car. The last thing you want to do to the lighting on this car is fuck it up. It's already the worst lighting I have EVER seen on a car, especially for a car that cost over 30g's when new.

Here is what I have on my car and the RIGHT way to do it...

B_Rock 04-16-04 07:48 PM

that looks awesome! did you gain any lighting performance? and did you build this kit or buy it? either way i want it now.

Fumanchu 04-16-04 07:59 PM

Everything you need to know.

I honestly did not think this was suitable for actually driving at night. I whole heartedly agree with you that this car has horrible stock lighting. I can ride around with my high beams on and nobody knows the difference. When I mentioned this as an alternative to a sleepy eyed kit, I only intended it as a show, aesthetic peice. Maybe drive during the day or what not with it. No need to flame.
