Fuse for boost controller?
 

Wiring my blitz sbc id boost controller to the fuse box by drivers kick panel. Was wondering if i needed to run a fuse so its not just straight unprotected power to it? How do i know what amp fuse to run?

The Blitz manual should tell you what's the maximum current.

Yeah i thought so too but it doesnt seem to give any info. On that wiring diagram they have it just says run the red wire to switched ignition 12v but doesnt specify a fuse or if its even needed

I got a separate fuse block to run all my accessories that i want to add to the car. I added a relay for the ignition source from the cigarette lighter.

i didn't want to tap into the existing fuse box in the car, that way all my circuits are separate and not tapped into an existing one.

Can you explain how you wired that? That sounds like a really good idea

for $25 bucks you can't beat it. it's small, easy to mount and it's expandable.

Then you just add a rely, any normal (normally open) relay will work. Just make sure it can handle the amps you're supplying to the fuse block, like a 40a.

I will wire it so when the key is in the "on" position, the relay will actuate, allowing voltage to flow to the fuse block, powering all my accessories.

I only tapped into the cirgarette lighter circuit to power the relay, which is a really small draw on that circuit so it doesn't bother me. I just didn't want to run my gauge and module boxes, which all together would pull more draw than just a relay.

That website is pretty sweet, it even had directions if you don't understand something. Just explore around it and read some.

Just to help you out a little further regarding that fuse block that I ordered. That company is awesome. I ordered it on Saturday and it got here today...pretty sweet.

I got the 6 fuse holder. Here's a pic of the size reference. I have small hands so this thing is pretty small, which is what I wanted.

That looks pretty sweet! So just one wire feeding that fuse panel from the cig lighter is enough to power everything you hook up to it? Also, did you find anything about those ground wires? thanks man i appreciate the help!!:)

I don't have a ground wire going from the starter to the frame.

Installing multiple ground from the engine to the frame can never hurt.
