Which fumoto oil drain valve to get?
I searched but could not find a part # for the Fumoto oil drain valve.
There are 2 different types of oil drain plugs, as well as an optional adapter: F106 F106N (with nipple, which I believe is used mainly with a drain hose) Optional adapter ADP-106 Question: 1) To those who currently use the Fumoto valve on their FD, did you get the F106 (regular) or the F106N (with nipple)? 2) Did you get the optional adapter? |

it doesn't matter.. would you like the option to hook up a hose to the nipple to drain the oil?
I've had the regular one for a few years now. |
I had a Fumoto valve for a few years. The crappy thing is, the little paper/fiber gasket they give you eventually deteriorates over time, 'causing an oh-so-annoying minor leak. It's not catostrophic, but a thin bit of oil is noticeable around the plug. I suppose you can try using a crush washer, or something else that might seal better. But, I have since went back to the OEM plug and crush washer.
That's just my .02. |
am not planning on using a drain hose, but i am wondering if i need the adapter.
i suppose i would try to use a crush washer with the fumoto so i won't have to worry about any leak, minor or not. am wanting the drain valve mainly so i can change the oil twice a year without needing to remove/reinstall the bolt. more for convenience than anything else. am also looking at the fram suredrain. |
I've got the regular one and it works fine. I replaced the fiber washer with a copper one and have no leaks.
