full boost, but low power im stumped! IN NEED OF SOME HELP!!

hey guys i have been searching the fourms but i cant find much on this topic.

so i have a 92 rhd fd, and for a while now have been experiencing low power, she doesn't feel as fast as she used to.

so she seems to boost fine i have a defi boost gauge, but when i open her up she just seems to have less power thats really noticeable through the first turbo, but even the second feels a bit low as well. i thought it had something to do with my ecu because my tach was reading high rpms when you could feel and hear that the actual rpms were revving lower. ( this happened periodically. not all the time)
so i swaped out my ecu with a pfc and the rpms seem to be normal now ( only one run since i put it in) but im still feeling low power.

what are some possible reasons for this?

i have installed

greddy dual intake

rx7 store fmic ( greddy replica)

5 zigen cat back

apexi pfc

Check all your couplers and connections on the charge air piping, and do a boost leak test especially if the problem started around the time you installed that fmic. Its possible to have a boost leak and still register full boost on a gauge. As long as the car is running healthy otherwise with no other symptoms than low power I would check that first and also look into possible exhaust restrictions like a bad/clogged cat.

What's the weather like? My car feels slow when its humid or hot outside. My car feels like a damn rocket ship if the temp outside is anything below 50 degrees.

ok, im going to go through all of them today. no i did notice turbo lag when i put in the fmic but the power was still there, i have had a boost leak before but one of the couplers came right off and it felt totally different, and it was really loud like a hissing sound im not getting that now. i have always felt like my exhaust was restrictive so maybe thats the problem. ill post back when i find out!

no, but i do know what you mean though, but this is very consistent, cool or warm.

Do you have an ignition amplifier? Check your leading coil.

You can try to unclog your cat. Take it out, and shake it. If you hear loose stuff rattling, it may be clogged. I had very good success unclogging mine by shaking it until all the loose stuff came out the ends of the pipes. It took a while, but was well worth the time spent.

Boost gauge reads the manifold pressure, boost leaks will show on a gauge.

^ Incorrect.

If the boost leak is smaller than the amount of air that the turbos can flow while still maintaining full boost, it will not register. The wastegate will compensate by not opening as much.

right, you can have a leak and still get some boost. If he's normally getting 12 psi and now its still getting 12 psi, his problem isn't boost leak. Unless his iat is super high, that could be a leak causing his turbos to get way out of their efficiency range.

lika a dead cat ;)

ya couldn't find any leaks, so i found a guy who lives just down the street from me who has a cat for sale, im going to pick it up this week and throw it in and see if it makes a deference! fingers crossed!
