dude. who cares what "full bot-ons" would be considered. not to be a dick, but saying your car has "full bolt ons" is IMHO a rookie honda thing to do.

Your goal shouldn't be a tag like that, but should be to tune your car to you and make it into an enjoyable vehicle for YOU.
Start with reliability mods.
then start going to power mods.
ECU is a must pretty early on to provide enough fuel to not detonate.
After that. Tuning and mods go hand in hand.

When someone asks me what my car has done to it, I say "Enough to make me smile" If they want a technical breakdown, I give a basic list. IF (and that is a BIG if) they persist to know everything, I'll go into details. Otherwise, they'll usually nod and smile if I say down-pipe catback and a drop in filter, then they walk away happy.

IMO, "all the bolt-ons" means: intake, IC, dp, mp, cat-back

Greddy elbow, efini y-pipe don't really do that much, and a radiator??? Pulley's don't affect flow through the engine.

Damn dude... did you use a ladder to get on that soap box? do you require any assistance getting down?

it's simple question and honestly it has merit. Many people use the phrase "I have all the bolt ons" to describe what they have done to their car. But what does that really mean? Actually it's a very vague term and it's a horrible way to describe a set up because it really means different things to different people. Since he is new how would he know that? If sure he thought that it meant specific mods and he just wanted to know what those mods were.

sheesh...

i agree with everything, except that pulleys, radiator, elbow, and y-pipe, are considered bolt-ons as used in the context to describe power adders

Exactly like montego said...i figured that when people said that they had full bolt ons it was a specific list of bolt on parts....so thanks for not being a "dick" montego...i appreciate those who are considerate of others....

Yeah, sorry. Bad morning. My bad on the soapbox issue.

The most common bolt-on parts for an FD would probably be Downpipe, catback, intake.
After that you pretty much require tuning to bolt on much more. So here goes ECU
then bolt on a midpipe and whatever else you want, some boost controllers would be good too and tune to perfection.

a setup like that should yield a damn big permagrin untill you start itching to mod again.

Then it's porting time. ;)

^^ We understand Monkman, we have all had those mornings :)

rt turbo 05-11-06 03:20 PM

i like the term "full BPU", supra and vr4 guys use it to describe many mods but stock turbos still in use.

rynberg 05-11-06 03:39 PM

To me, bolt-ons are those items which effect air flow through the motor....pulleys, ecus, boost controllers, fuel system, etc., need not apply.

dgeesaman 05-11-06 05:21 PM

The misleading thing about the term 'full bolt-ons' is that it suggests you can buy bolt-on upgrades and run that way. It couldn't be much further from the truth, since the setups mentioned above usually need things like ECU upgrade, fuel system upgrades, boost control, wastegate porting, etc. I'm kinda glad the upgrade process has not been reduced to that term.

I bolted on a T67 turbo and stainless manifold, does that count? ;)

dubulup 05-11-06 05:58 PM

I've always held the term "bolt on" as something that literally bolts on with no further modification, especially fab work or major tuning...

Bolt on's can be installed and uninstalled and stock parts swapped back in.

I really hate the terms BPU and BPU+, and BPU++ and can't f*cking stand BPU+++
give me a break. Same when the kids ask me what stage my clutch is or turbo...I don't know WTF stages are.

I'd have to agree, only I always generally considered it to consist of an intake, dp, mid-pipe, exhuast- the generic and 'cheaper' power adders. Usually I'd also relate the term to parts that have a greater ease of installation, as in not requiring large amounts of time, or special tools.
