Fuel system picture
 

Just thought I'd share a picture of my fuel system. It's a RP secondary rail, Keith Gibbons primary rail, late night on Summit's website figuring out all the fiittings I'd need. I am running 1600's all the way around as reccomended by Autronics.

By the way, the absolute best way to cut the 6AN hose is to have a 4'x'4' wood block, lay the hose on it, and wack it three times with sledge hammer and a sharp wood chisel. It snaps off perfectly clean. I did not believe it until I tried it....

looks nice, Ive always cut my line with some good duct tape and a hacksaw. Always has worked for me. But ive never heard of anyone running 1600's all around... you trying to make like 800hp or something?

Nope, 400 or so is enough for me. The Autronics system likes 4 of the same injectors. They claim the injector drivers are superb and handle the 1600's very well. If there is a problem I will go to a smaller injector. There are other guys with rotaries running Autronics ECUs and 1600's the whole way around. Base fuel pressure is 45.

Here's mine--I just did it this week, and last week, and the week before. It's a bit more elaborate... comes up from tank, goes to Y to each rail, comes out of each rail, goes back into Y, goes to FPR, goes back to tank.

Hence my new avitar...

Is that a surge tank on the fire wall?

very nice guys ,and i have also heard of more people running 4 1600`s ,it will hate you when adjusting idle but with enough tinkering it should work
if DR wankel could see this it would bring a tear to his eye

Are you sure the intake manifold will fit with your hoses routed above the coils?

Just asking- I had to re-route mine because of this.

it's snug, but it works. The line in stays to the back by the firewall. The return line is *close* to rubbing, but still fits.

Very interesting way of running your fuel system. What type of fuel pump(s) are you using?

Maybe it's a really big fuel filter.

Where and how are you guys mounting your SX fpr's?

Benjamin, looks like you have some kind of U shaped bracket attaching it to the bay.

Right now the way it came installed for me its just flopping around the engine bay, sometimes rubbing up on the hood protector material.

I liked that each rail got equal amounts of fuel pressure. I researched and read fights for plumbing into the primary rail first, and also into the secondary first. I said screw it, and did both. Same for the return.

That's a fuel filter. You can see mine back by the break booster; it's blue. compared to the stocker, the one's pictured here are tiny.

Jspecracer7--I've got an 800hp Bosch in-tank FP.

Cavellm--I went to Home Depot, and got a piece of aluminum bar for $5. I utilized the two stock threaded mounting locations (visible in the picture), and secured a custom bracket. It just took some back & forth to the vice, but it mounts very sturdy, and conveniently. The only downside, is that I have to remove the elbow with the UIM, for it doesn't leave enough room to do so. If I changed anything, it would have been to push the FPR about a half inch closer to the fender wall, away from the engine.

That big black can is my fuel filter. It's in the Summit catalog. Should be a little easier to change than the stocker. Actually it has a changable cartrige. I ran a loop in place of the stock filter.

The Autronic ECUs will have no problem making the engine idle nicely, even with 1600cc injectors.

You guys who've never dealt with these have little room to doubt. When you quit fooling around with cheap ECUs and band-aid tuning devices and buy a serious piece of gear, you'll be amazed at the difference in how well the stuff works. After all, there is a lot of truth in the saying "you get what you pay for."

I didn't know so many people were using cheap ecu's and band-aid tuning devices on this forum. I guess I haven't seen many threads on piggyback fuel controlers lately. I wonder why...

You might want to look around and check out what people here are using. Most of us who have decently modded cars are running stand alone ECU's, even before the injector sizes are changed.

And sure, with the right management, you can run 1600cc injectors in the primary rail. Its just not necessary unless you are running a very high boost setup that would normally require additional injectors beyond what the upgraded rails and usual 850/1600's can put out (ample support for more horsepower than most forum members are making).

Be careful how you defend your preferences. The responses weren't questioning the integrity of the Autronic unit, they were meerly asking why he chose to go with a different setup that isn't normally recommended by knowledgable rotary tuners. There's no need to talk down to anyone here. If you're feeling the need to, your place is not in the 3rd gen section, or any other part of this forum. Try some other place where they actually use cheap parts and are unfamiliar with stand alone/programmable management systems.

are u using autronic smc or sm2....?

That's quite a juice machine you have there! I've seen a lot more people going to external pump setups with everything bolted to the bottom of the tank lately. Do you use anything to cover your gear under there like a fabricated rock shield or a diffuser? Does it whine a lot, or is it pretty quiet?
