Fuel system help: connector ID
My car has a Supra pump that was wired to a 12v relay by the previous owner. The car 'HAD' a battery in the trunk with a positive and negative running, unswitched, directly to the relay. The relay has two wires running to the pump. That's it. no signal wire for the relay and no switches...
I want to revert back to stock fuel pump wiring. And then there's a 6 wire plug left open... I don't know what it goes to. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...c27e8be05d.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...d0f6f11054.jpg |
I don't have one so I don't know for sure but do you have a car that came with the the Bose wave system? Maybe it's the connector for that. Again, not positive, but if you have a car that originally came with Bose and doesn't have it any more, maybe that's it...

After looking through the electrical part of the shop manual, I think that's almost definitely what it is...
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=..._byXFw&cad=rja Page Z-88 and Z-89 for details on that plug. Per Z-89, it's a black plug in the same region as you're seeing and per Z-88, it's 6 pins. You have a closer look at the wires so you can tell if they match up to the colors in the diagram. Good luck. |
first of all you dont want to run the stock wiring , you just want to redo it and do it right .. There should be a red and white wire that goes to teh fuel pump and that is the wire you should use as a signal for the relay .
there is a very good writeup on the FAQ regarding the rewiring . |
^+1 redo it right..stock wiring = bad idea

Thanks for replies, I found out it went to the Bose wave day or so after I made the post once I started digging in to the manual.
I'm not exactly reverting back to stock wiring. Just removing the relay and battery relocation. Battery is back in the engine bay and I disconnected the ignition power supply to the fuel pump relay and spliced in direct battery power. Daleclark has this mod and it's simple, makes sense, and is a clean, hidden alternative. |
