fuel rail temp sensor vs water temp sensor temp problems
 

Is it possible to get these two sensors mixed up? i heard that they use the same connectors but i'm not sure if one reaches the other. If they were to get mixed up would it cause the car to run hot? or could a faulty water temp sensor cause the car to run hot? like 190F at idle and goes to around 200 during driving.. I've been doing research but i couldnt find anything about anyone mixing these two connectors up.
The thermostat is fine. Fresh reman from malloy.

the car has an AF gauge and the person said it was running lean during idle. so I am also thinking maybe a clogged injector?

Yes, you can get the two mixed up. The connectors can be exchanged, but it makes other connections a little more difficult (but not impossible).

190F is about normal for a fairly stock car.

hmmm well he has a pfs intercooler plus an upgraded radiator...
do you know what kind of ill effects switching them might be?

I have no idea. If I had to guess, I would say the car would idle pretty rough and run rich (similar to the MAP sensor not being hooked up).

ok the problem gets a little more wierd... apparently according to the person he has drilled holes in the thermostat and now the car idles at 180 but it takes a while for it to get there.. but when he drives around his temps still reach around 200. which is fine but still wayy to hot for the mods that he has on the car.. anyone have any suggestions?

ok... since when is 200f too hot for anything?? ffs stock cars run around 220f all day long.

well just comparatively when a stock fd with a stock rad and stock IC runs at 180 and when you have a another car with an aluminum rad and a PFS intercooler running at 200.. there might be somethign wrong.. plus this is a fresh motor so I REALLY don't want this second one to go.. just looking for suggestions to check in the cooling system.

Neither sensor can cause the car to run hot.

Since the fuel temperature is always colder than the water temperature, if their sensor connectors were switched, the car would run richer.

Cars running stock ECUs will run a lot hotter than ones running PFCs since the PFC allows you to set the temperature that the fans come on.

thank you good to know about the sensors. I'll try switching out the ECU and see how that works.

bump... the car is not running like i should... even called ray at malloy and he agrees that somethign isn't right. Shall we go through and change out the motor? i mean how can a motor be the cause of running hot?... I really don't want to help out on another engine swap again.. grant it will be another brand new reman.. any suggestions would be great... upgraded alumin rad. PFS intercooler intake.. fan mod.. can like a coolant jacket be blocked or something? i dunno

Are they interchangeable? ie: I need a new water temp sender, can I just use the fuel temp sender out of a spare rail I have lying arround? If its relevent this is for a ls1 swap so all I need is for the guage to function. Thanks, Mike

Yes, they are the same part number.

well for an update.. the motor siezed <-(sp?) so yah it turns out there was probably something wrong with the motor.. pretty disappointed
