Fuel Rail Help: Is RX7store's different than KGParts?
 

I purchased 1680cc injectors from KGParts to go with the rest of my rx7store extreme fuel kit. I jumped the fuel pump to check for leaks and both were leaking from the top of the injector that fits into the the fuel rail. I checked to ensure that the injectors were firmly seated and they were. The rail was bolted down firmly as well. The o rings have a couple of little scratches, but not enough to make them leak like they were IMO. They were lubricated before being placed in the rail. I'm going to run and get some more orings and give them a try... but does anyone know if there are any difference in the KGParts and RX7Store fuel rail? The injectors from the RX7store are white and the ones from KGParts are blue... but both are suppose to be 1680's and the same size. Thanks.

They both should be the same.

Are you running the metal spacers/sleeves? Without those they'll leak. Coat the outside bore in a thin film of silicone and gently tap them in with the appropriate size socket.

Thats what I was thinking... the rails are the same. The spacers are in the LIM, but the leak is coming from the fuel rail/top of the injector which should be unrelated, right? There are no leaks from the bottom... yet. I just picked up some more O-Rings, beveled the sharp edge off the rail, and going in for round 3...

At one point in time RX7Store did use another rail and we had customers coming to us complaining about the o-ring tearing during install. I didnt know what to tell them, so I had one customer (I believe it was goodfellas if memory serves) send us the rail to see what the problem was. It looked as if they never put a counter sink for the o-ring. I will try to get a pic of what I am talking about.
Long story short... if they say "rx7store" on it, then no, they are not KGParts. If an o-ring has any tears (no matter the size) they should not be used. Color of the injector does not matter as over time different color variations in the castings have changed. The o-ring size did not. There are a few variations of the part numbers as well. Some are 150lb, others are 160lb. again, o-ring remains the same.

Yup Keith, that was me. You fixed the problem 100%, it went from leaking like a bastard to being as tight as a virgin :D

Thanks for the info guys. Mine says Rotart Extreme on the rail. Well, I have tried it prob. 2 more times. The front injector now seals, but the rear is not. It is simply trickling out now opposed to spewing out. Time for some food right now, but I'm going to play with it some more after that and see if I can't get this fuel problem fixed and finally start the car up tonight after almost a year of building it!!

well, I got the secondary rail to stop leaking... now I realized that the primaries are leaking too... mind you all new o-rings were purchased to prevent this from happening. This was the first time I ever paid anyone(local rotary guy that has been doing this for years) to work on my car due to me just flat out not having the time to do it... and I'm ending up having to redo everything anyways due to his negligence. Very frustrating to say the least... esp. since I deploy for 15 months frickin months in around a month. Alot of money in this car not to drive it around for a while before I leave. Ok, I'm done venting now. Back to twisting wrenches...

Are the spacers need mounted on the secondary injectors? Or is something that goes in the LIM mentioned above. i bought a used fuel set up 850 in modified primary and a aftermarket secondary fuel line with 1600 but didn't get any spacers. What do i need?

You need these spacers for 1680cc's in the LIM http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/lim%20spacer.htm or you can use the pintle caps off an FC injector... which is much easier to reverse.

use the s5 89-91 pintle cap with these 1680 injectors and you shouldn't leak. They are $2 each from Mazdatrix. Also, if your injector o-ring breaks you can just use an o-ring from an F-150 (I got them from like an '04 or something. I think all the recent ones are the same), available at any parts store

White bodies typically are 150lb (1500cc) and the blues are 160lb (1680cc)

Your rail says Rotary Extreme on it? How long ago did you buy that system from me? Reason I ask is I havent used those rails in probably 2 years. If you purchased it directly from me then I will swap it out with a KGparts for free. I have been using keiths rails for a long time.

Jason, not sure if you are aware or not, but I have been "fixing" the rails people have had problems with that were not made by us. I just have them pay return shipping.
If the original poster wants to send me the rail to "fix" that is not the www.KGParts.com rail, just hit me up. I can take care of it for you, for Jason. ;)

How did he manage to make the primaries leak? Look on the bright side, you are getting close to getting it ready to start.:)

I have no idea man. I've been pretty sick for about a week now, and working on the car yesterday put me over the top. I'm just going to take it easy today and see if I can get get well enough to hit it up tomorrow since I have the day off. I *think* I have an extra set of o rings and insulators that are suppose to be for my other car. If I need to I'll use them. I also noticed he did not connect the oil injectors that sit right next to primaries. Given I prob. would of been ok because I run premix, but that is a contingency in the event the OMP, lines, or injectors go bad... not because they don't get hooked up. I'm def. not getting a warm fuzzy about any of this.

BTW, you can't keep a good man down ;) I'll be damned if I let this car kick my ass...

Well, the spacer underneath the primaries was left off. I just found it in a box with my old parts. Hopefully the rail is just slightly canted due to this and is causing the leak. We'll see...

When I beveled the edge of the secondary fuel rail it fixed the leak. Thanks to rxrotary2_7 for offering to fix it for free anyways.
