Fuel Pump Question ??

Should Walbro fuel pump 255 handle the the ported engine and T78 with 18psi or up boost ???

jdhuegel1 12-26-03 11:14 PM

I don't think it's very safe... I'd at least run duals in the tank..

What are the rest of the fuel mods? You do have some I hope... ;)

Doubt it will work at that PSI

RE13REW 12-27-03 11:04 PM

I will install a upgraded pressure regulator, injectors, and fuel rack. I don't know what you mean install dual in tank ?? you mean two fuel pump in tank ??

injectors will be 850cc & 1200cc or 1600cc

Yep stick 2 walbros in there... I think Dragon runs this setup.

mmonaco 12-27-03 11:13 PM

get a supra pump. 165 from suprakid.

BBK makes an awesome in-tank fuel pump for the RX7. It runs about $160 If that isn't enougf Barry Grant fuel pump can support 2000hp at over 60psi. Runs about $470

..

Supra pumps a great alternative to the walboro, but a bit pricey. Also, it needs 12+ Volts to work right on the FD.

i think the nippondenso is good. ive heard good things about it, but have never ran it myself. what do you guys think about it?

also ive heard that running 2 stock pumps isnt to good. i forget the reason though.

I would go for pics.

Of what? A dual pump setup?

Solomon 12-29-03 10:45 AM

mmonaco said he had some of the this setup.

DCrosby 12-29-03 11:58 AM

What about a Cosmo pump, if it can handle 3 rotors why shouldn't it be able to handle 18 PSI / 1600's ?? Just a thught no real basis for this comment... :D

My bad! I'm just a hair stupid sometimes...

With,

-GReddy Trust cat-back
-GReddy Airnix intake
-Blitz SMIC
-aftermarket Downpipe
-MP
-PFC
-Fluidyne
-Walbro 255

First: What size injectors should I get, and what is a safe PSI to run at this stage? Also, what whp do you think I would be close too?

Second: Should I go with the MP or a High Flow Cat from Pettit? I thought the MP should connect to a Cat? Or is the Pettit a separate bolt-on?

Please excuse me about tagging on this post. Just thought that sense we were all on the fuel system... =)

I've run this setup before. Two stock FD pumps thru two individual lines forward, one fueling the primary rail, the other fueling the secondary rail, then "Y" into an aeromotive FPR. with a single line back as a return.

With this setup, you'll need to run 12V constant to the pumps. It will work fine with a T-04S or similar turbo at appx. 15 psi, but I wouldn't boost higher or put anything bigger on without upgrading the pumps.
