fuel pump/fuel tank pictures & wiring HELP

Hello all,

I had some fuel issues and removed the trunk cover over the fuel pump. What a mess I found. Wires are all exposed and cut off and there is an open hole straight in the middle of the pump mounting plate. I tried to dowload the wring diagram and the service manual but my work computer could not do it. Does anyone have a top picture of the fuel pump housing and some simple wiring diagram that they could send me quickly? I greatly appreciate your help. I need to fix this so I can get my beast on the road. Thanks in advance.

This is a diagram I made for rewiring the fuel pump with larger wire. The red/white wire (if you still have one in yours) is the power wire for the fuel pump, the black wire is the ground for the fuel pump. This is all for the stock wiring. I'm not sure what has been done for yours.

fuel pump wows

You guys are awesome. Thank you so much for the information.

Basically, I have wired in a relay and the pump works fine but somehow there is a hole where the pump output should be on the top cover. Without opening the unit, it looks like the guy before me (talk about a clown) used the tank return line as an output, cut off the regular metal line that used to be the output and used silicone to plug the remaining hole. Then he hacked up all the wiring.

At this point, the only thing I need is the fuel level signal wire color (I assume it is going to the white connector) so that I can hook up my fuel gauge.

I really appreciate all the pictures and the diagram. Very useful. Thanks.

Sigfrid
