Fuel Pressure Help
I am upgrading my fuel system and I can't seem to get enough fuel
pressure. I don't know what I was getting before I ripped my car apart because I never measured it. My mods: "RX-7 Store" upgraded fuel pump. I think this is the Nippon Denso one for Cosmo/Supra(??) Mallory 4309 Adjustable 1:1 FPR (3-65 PSI Base) 1600 cc/min secondaries + k2rd rail (no stock FPR) TWO different fuel pressure gauges for a sanity check while installing Anyhow, even with the Mallory cranked all the way to max, the best I can do with the car OFF is around 35 PSI. When I crimp off the return line to test FULL pressure, it goes up to maybe 40-45 PSI. I hooked up a heavy duty battery charger (on engine start mode) to give the pump more juice and this helped a little. My numbers with the return line blocked went up to about 60 PSI or so. This is still pathetic. The ONLY thing I can think of that is broken is when I put in the new pump, the little plastic O ring thing that snaps on to the top of the fuel pump broke. I just put it back in with a crack in it. Could this be bleeding off pressure? Is that fuel pump just a POS? How can I test my fuel pump wiring for proper amperage delivery? If the fuel pump is a piece of junk, where can I get the Bosch one? Thanks, Brian |
