fuel leak??

the last two times i filled up my tank its overfilled and poured out onto the ground it comes from somewhere on the drivers side of the tank and runs down the tank onto the ground. it filled up to 18.5 gallons even after my car was on an 1/8 of a tank before the pump kicked itself off. it didnt leak any after i drove and parked it but my friend said that shortly after i filled it up it would spill some out when i took right turns. im wondering if anyone has had any type of similar problem or what would cause the car to overfill and spill out onto the ground...

Pull off the cover plate and check the hoses and valves there. Also tighten the retaining screws for the fuel pump assemble, might be loose.

Check the filler neck as well (at the tank)

the hoses are fine and the retaining screws are too tight to be able to leak. what would i be checking for on the filler neck? has there ever been a problem of them cracking?...

its coming from right below the bumper, so how could it be the filler neck?

if it leaked out of the filler neck, it would drain down the tank and pour onto the ground, just like it is doing...

How do you know it's comming from "right below the bumper" ?

maybe because I was driving right behind him when he goes around corners and all the gas pours out that one side "right below the bumper":)

Well, the filler neck goes to the tank and the tank is "in front of the bumper". Any fuel leak is going to be in front of the rear bumper so technically we're both wrong. Now that we've cleared that up. If you don't want to check the filler neck, then don't. It was a suggestion and it is a possibility. Take it for what you think it's worth.

no it very well could be the filler neck im not arguing with you about that....most of the stuff that could leak on the tank is in that one area so it could be anything. im just wondering if someone has had a similar problem to mine....
