fuel issue
 

I installed an aftermarket adjustable FPR a couple of weeks ago , fired the car up all good. I have let the car sit for a bit while I've installed some Defi gauges and I went to fire her up again today and she wont start ( but turns over ) . I wanted to make sure it wasnt my fuel pump so I did the old jumper wire in the daignosis box and had a listen down the fuel cap and sure enough the pump can be heard going so that all good. Then I looked at my FPR gauge and its sitting on zero ( basically dead ) even when trying to start. I evemn tried adjusting it while the fuel pump is running and the needle on the gauge wont even move. like theres not enough fuel pressure ( if any at all ) . Is there something electrical that could be shorted out causing this? I'm at a bit of loss as to what it could be??

fuel filter? injectors maybe? just two places to look

well I thought the same thing, but then even if the injectors were playing up I thought there would still be fuel pressure in the system ( as indicated by the FPR gauge) . Could be the filter I guess?

that's why I thought to start with the filter, then maybe check the lines, something could be blocking it up, which fuel pump are you using? I'm assuming walbro since you mentioned you could hear it whine.

Try to verify fuel pressure with a gague if you canor you could remove the return line and put it into a jug. cycle the key on for a sec see if u get flow if you are sure you can hear the pump but have no pressure you may have blown a hose or clamp in the tank, super rare for a filter to plug up so bad it wil not start, especially with no starvation symptoms earlier.

ok, so I pulled the fuel rails and hoses etc...the hoses seemed pretty dry ( only a dribble of fuel) which is strange considering I've been trying to fire the engine and can hear the fuel pump running. So I fulled the feed line hose off and jumped the fuel pump. Now yes there is fuel coming out but it doesnt seem to have much pressure , sort of just pours . This could be normal though( is it?)
Another thing I did was to pull the plugs and the rear plugs ( closest to rear of car ) were both oily and wet where as both my front plugs are dry as a bone like new. ( the pic is of my trailing plugs )
I'm starting to wonder if this isnt something to do with my ECU. Although that doesnt explain the lack ( or no ) fuel pressure??

Did you just get your injectors cleaned? How old is the fuel pump? Test all the injectors. I just went through something similar to this https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/help-im-flooded-wont-stop-849787/. First all my injectors were stuck closed and then 1 was stuck open and one was stuck closed. Do the click test at the ECU. All should click fairly loud. Make sure your fuel hoses are plug in to the right ports. Any fuel coming out the exhaust?

right , so I did the 'click' test on all the injectors and they are all clicking fine. I replaced the fuel pump with a 500hp Walbro but still no fuel pressure. Is there anything electronic ( apart from the fuel pump) that I can check? also - when the fuel pump is on how fast should the fuel run out of the feed line ( when checking the flow ) ?

is there anyway to check wether the ECU is faulty?
