Fuel Injector inspection (on vehicle)
Hey guys:
As I read the FSM (pg F-105), it claims to inspect the primary fuel injector with a screwdriver or sound scope. Anyone have any luck with that and where would you place the screwdriver or sound scope? Here is the quote from the FSM: INJECTOR Inspection (On-vehicle) 1. Warm up the engine and run it idle. 2. Listen for the operational sound of primary injector with a screwdriver or a sound scope. The small picture that is attached to this step is small to get a good idea to place said screwdriver or sound scope. Any advice? George |
Yeah, you need a long screwdriver. Basically just touch the tip of the screwdriver on the injector itself, and hold you're ear against the plastic handle of the screwdriver. You will hear it clicking open if it is functioning properly.

Yes, I found the spot! It was near the left, top side of the engine. I removed the black expansion chamber to get some additional light then reinstalled it. I had to wiggle my stethoscope around but behold, I heard the clicking sound of both primary injectors while the car was running.
